BREAKING: Officials with the California Republican Assembly released the results of their presidential preference straw poll which occurred during their Spring convention in San Bernardino County.
The California Republican Assembly is California's largest GOP volunteer organization and works to uphold conservative values and principles in public policy. The organization is often called the "conscience of the Republican Party."
Despite not being an officially declared presidential candidate (or having an active presence at the Republican gathering), former US Senator Fred Dalton Thompson of Tennessee scored a huge upset, netting the votes of 28 CRA delegates. Tied for second place with 22 votes were California Congressman Duncan Hunter and ex-Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.
The following are unofficial results, provided on-site from the convention location by CRA activists Bob Rego and Scott Folkens of San Bernardino County:
1. Fred Thompson: 28 votes
2. Duncan Hunter: 22 votes
2. Mitt Romney: 22 votes
3. Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX): 14 votes
4. Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO): 9 votes
5. (tie) Former US House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA): 8 votes
5. (tie) Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani: 8 votes
6. US Senator Sam Bownback (R-KS): 3 votes
US Senator John McCain, Former Cabinet Secretary Tommy Thompson, ex-Arkansas Guv Mike Huckabee all recieived zero votes in the CRA straw poll. Organizers failed to include former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore.
The California Republican Assembly is expected to soon issue a press statement on the results of their convention and the non-binding presidential straw poll.
So men who honor their commitments are BAD, in your book?
He doesn’t have to conform to your time table.
Yes, it can. If he announces then the “Equal Time” rule comes into play and the network has to give the exact amount of time that he is onscreen to any GOP candidate who requests it.
Wrong. His producer wants him to run.
I hadn’t seen that. Got a link? :)
“If your so sick of it, why are you on this thread?”
How would anybody know he was sick of it if he didnt come here to tell you?
It’s just like someone going to the Rush Limbaugh thread(or whoever) and announcing that they hate him and never listen to him.lol
Maybe at wearing a dress.
I don’t know if I can find it. I have so many, and it was just a throw-away line in a big article. I will look, but maybe someone else around here can remember. :)
Well, we've managed to offload a number of those "FReepers" (if we can really call them that) over the past several days. Really put a dent in our RINO/liberal/moderate inventory.
Thanks!
The word’s gettin out!
Listen to the no-nonsense conversation with DUNCAN HUNTER including WOT, borders, China’s cheating with trade, socialized medicine, aka universal health care (he is against it), etc.
After listening to him, compare him with other candidates, and I don’t think you’ll find any other candidate who is NEARLY as astute on ALL of the issues.

amen
California will always be "home turf" to an actor. I also suspect that people in the northern part of the state don't see southern California as "their state" anyway. In any case, the win is a good one for Mr. Thompson. Mr. Romney's people should be pleased, and I'm happy to see Mr. Hunter coming that close in a state where his base is a relatively small section of the state. If the race comes down to these three candidates, I'll feel better about the race than I've felt in a long time. The other one that I want to see considered is Jim Gilmore. He has great qualifications to be president and great positions on the issues.
Bill
Well... It sure suits me! Got a couple left to go, however...
Looky Look
:)
Yeah, but Hunter is up there! This is great!
The fight is moving to the right!
Duncan hunter is on Victoria Taft’s show on KPAM 860 AM right now
Have they been banned forever or just a temporary one?
I missed that lively debate. Were they all Rudy supporters?
