Me ,Take me off.I have no idea what is going on.I love Jim and Freerepublic but all this glee and drama and tearing down of some people.I vote me.This is too sad..
((hugs)) fatima. It is sad, and don’t feel bad if you aren’t comfy here, dear FRiend. You wouldn’t be the only good person here at FR who would be happier doing some other things.
I’ve got a prayer thread set up you might like to check out instead:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1822257/posts
It’s prayers for the election campaign season.
I’m not sure what you mean, fatima, my friend. This has been coming for a very long time.
There is nobody that has been banned that didn’t either deserve it, or set out to obtain it, or both.
But I don't take pleasure in the banning of long time posters on this forum for their opinions, even if I rarely agree with them or dislike them.
Fatima, I don’t think this is a good thread for you to be on. Too painful. But please don’t leave FR. We need you here. Those who have left, did so of their own accord. They have begged to be zotted. There’s bound to be some celebrating from those they have abused, but please don’t let that get to you. You’re too kind and tender to get caught up in this.
Fatima, please think about this. Sleep on it.
— ...but all this glee and drama and tearing down of some people...
There is a heavy military presence here at FR—JR himself was Navy (not just in the Navy). These people understand, deeply, the meaning of duty, honor, and commitment. To them these aren’t just high-sounding words, but life experiences you and I cannot understand because we, thanks to them, were not there.
Sun Tzu, who wrote the primer on things military 2500 years ago said, in effect, that a good leader cannot be too attached to his people or it will become a weakness. Neither can he be too distant or they will not follow. He must walk a fine line somewhere in between those extremes.
Sometimes, in the line of duy, for various reasons, friends are lost: transfer, discharge, or the inevitable. They did their duty and we must do ours. The mission goes on.
I imagine Jim sees FR as a mission. While there may be pain associated with the loss of some members, duty and the mission come first.
Besides, this isn’t death, just a dishonorable discharge.
What about all the glee? I’ve heard that those who’ve survived intense combat sometimes experience a period of euphoria because they have looked death in the eye-socket and survived! (Several military units use images of skulls in their emblems, in part, for this reason.) Mourning and guilt often follow. Be patient with both phases.
If they stand to do it, how can we not stand to support them?
fatima, please re-think this. Just consider it as Tough Love. It is a pious act to loathe evil. It is not bad to feel happy at a victory over wrong.
And if some went over the top on this thread (I haven’t read the whole thing by any means), just overlook or tolerate what you don’t agree with.
I always am glad to see your name on FR. You add much to the atmosphere of Free Republic.
Fatima, I was alarmed, hope you stick in here.
We may be surprised and disappointed that some here got the zot, but as we found out in our Terri Dailies, otherwise decent posters we thought were our friends, would unmask and skirmish with us behind the scenes. Then we would see them elsewhere and they were all smiles and conservative. It had been going on a long time and we would persevere, trying our best to behave as Our Lord would wish.
I don’t know the stories on all who got the zot or departed due to this, but for the ones I do know, it is a great relief that finally they were exposed for who they were in their hearts. For with those, others may have seen them as just fine as they wore their masks as conservatives, and we knew from painful experience what lurked in their hearts and it was not good.

What’s up? Fmail me.
