I hate to ask this, but is this another "Gun Free Zone" type thing?

It's a federal facility, so of course it's also an Unarmed Victims Zone, like a Post Office.

I’m reticent to criticize the police because I’m not there but it seems as though police are much more deliberative than they used to be when it comes to shots being fired. But I could certainly be wrong about that. In fact, the guy that was shot could have been dead since the gitgo. But if he wasn’t it is reasonable to ask if he could have been saved. The answer may even be no because of other hostages. I dunno but I’d like to know.

I had to change the channel. Geraldo is horrible when it comes to breaking news coverage.

That's for sure. I still can't get over one of his comments to a female student at V Tech. She had just learned that a friend of hers had been killed and just moments later he says to her 'Life goes on'.

Cops were using loudspeakers to try to get suspect to answer and he never did, so they feel that’s when he decided to shoot himself.

I guess the search at the gunman’s house is uneventful, no more being said about it, except that the cops are there now. They won’t release names until tomorrow AM, after relatives notified.

I need to go to the grocery store and get dinner! Prayers up for the man who was killed and for his family ... and for the lady who will have nightmares for quite a while, I’m sure.

Over and out!

I thought you were reporting , what was on the news. The usual what ifs. Anyway, I don’t think there is an answer to that. They do the best they can under the circumstances. If someone dies during the rescue, it is the shooters doing. IMO, all that is going to help, is an even field. We need no restrictions, anywhere for CCWs and someone needs to be armed in areas of large groups of people. The blame has got to be placed with the killers though. It isn’t the parents, the school, or even the medias fault. People are dieing because evil people are shooting them and because our government leaders won’t let us protect ourselves.

I don't blame anybody for the murders except the murderers. And I am in total agreement that the Second Amendment is the best way to deter whackjobs. Two things are evident. The first is that police can not protect anybody from a bound and determined killer. The second is that killers love gun free zones.

The lesson I am trying to get across is that your life is in your hands in these situations, you can't rely on quick response of police units because for logistical reasons alone they just are not fast enough to react.

No police bashing or criminal coddling here but the public still should know whether or not the murdered hostage died immediately or from blood loss. It helps them make better decisions in similar situations.

“We do know the whereabouts of the crazy astronaut lady, right?” I must admit, that’s the first thing I thought about.

I agree. I just hate seeing LE questioned every time there isn’t a happy ending. It seems like they can’t win. Sometimes they just can’t save people. We have to know how ourselves. First aid, CPR, and weapons use.

Hey it’s Friday, maybe he got the pink slip.

A Federal employee getting a pink slip? I don't think that has ever happened.
