Vermont Senate: Impeach the president
By ROSS SNEYD, Associated Press Writer 7 minutes ago
Vermont senators voted Friday to call for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, saying their actions have raised "serious questions of constitutionality."
The non-binding resolution was approved 16-9 without debate all six Republicans in the chamber at the time and three Democrats voted against it.
The resolution says Bush and Cheney's actions in the U.S. and abroad, including in Iraq, "raise serious questions of constitutionality, statutory legality, and abuse of the public trust."
"I think it's going to have a tremendous political effect, a tremendous political effect on public discourse about what to do about this president," said James Leas, a vocal advocate of withdrawing troops from Iraq and impeaching Bush and Cheney.
Vermont lawmakers earlier voted to demand an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq in another non-binding resolution.
Democratic House Speaker Gaye Symington has kept a similar resolution from reaching the floor in her chamber. She argued that an impeachment resolution would be partisan and divisive and that it would distract Washington from efforts to get the United States out of Iraq, which she says is more important.

Vt should just secede.
If these bozos want to affect national policies, they need to run for the US Congress or Senate.
Until then, stick to the dogcatcher business.......
How did such a beautiful, scenic and at one time conservative state like Vermont, become such a Stalinist left wing black hole? My wife is from Middlebury and we’d visit Burlington when we went and that city is as evil as Ithaca. Your point of view is simply not welcome if it’s anything other than socialist, left wing nut job.
Do Americans live in Vermont?
Vermont senate pose after landmark resolution....
Looks like I won’t be buying anything made in Vermont from now on.
VT the Gay and Hippydippy state!
It should be blasted into ashes.
Why?
40% of us voted for President Bush in 2004.
Vermont will not secede without a fight from conservatives.
The Vermont Legislature is controlled by liberal moonbats who spent most of this legisalative session jawing about global warming. They've gone right round the bend. Its like Alice in Wonderland and the Queen of Hearts in this years Vermont Legislature.
Impeach the President! Off with his head!

There are more cogent grounds to impeach Nancy Pelosi than George W. Bush.
If anyone's raising "serious questions of constitutionality," it's the Vermont senate. State senates don't impeach elected federal officials. Maybe Vermont ought to call itself a nation and join the US-bashers in the UN. They'd be right at home in that bunch of socialist losers.
Why don’t the rest of us, who live in real states, vote to expel VT from the Union? There should be a mechanism for those of us who live in the US to rid ourselves of these unAmerican leeches populating our coasts.
I am going to try a VT BBQ this year—Chet’s. I’ll try to make it my only VT purchase.
The Vermont senate is in a state of insurrectionary anarchy and the POTUS needs to send in the NG.
I’m swearing off maple syrup.
Pimple on an elephant's a$$ comes to mind.

So, like locusts, they moved on to Vermont. Boutique businesses and upscale retail establishments have replaced the farms that used to support the state's economy, taxes have skyrocketed, and many of the older, more conservative crowd have moved away, leaving the liberal transplants to take over.
I recall what Woodstock, VT was like when I visited as a kid - a quaint country village with beautiful houses and old-world charm. Now it's Gay and Lesbian Central. These days, I feel like more of a foreigner when I enter Vermont that when I go to Canada.
Try Curtis’s BBQ. Right off the highway in Putney, exit 4 off 91.
Look for the clouds of smoke coming from the blue school bus. Best ribs I’ve ever had.
I think there is a cream that will clear that up.
