He was shunned and taunted for his alleged role in a crime that North Carolinas attorney general has declared never happened. Is there subtle shading on the phrasing of that sentence, or am I just suffering from CPD (Clinton Parsing Disease)? To me, that is not the same as "in an alleged crime that was later found to have never occurred."
