Because what's reported over the radio is not necessarily the truth, especially after the media get finished mangling what they've heard. Better to take the time to get it right, and to dish out correct information.

Those are members of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. The VTCC is a full time, 24-7 cadet corps that coexists with the 'civilian' student population, much like at Texas A&M. It's not a requirement to be in ROTC to be in the Cadet Corps.

Man, if I was in a line and the dude started shooting, I wouldn’t stay in line. Run, attack him, whatever is a better chance for survival than staying in line.

Virginia Tech does have a Corps of Cadets. We used them at Radford Army Ammunition Plant for some events.

Wonder how many people would peg Malaysian, Indonesian, Thai, or Philippino as Asian? (Most, I suspect). Yet all of hese countries have lots of Moslems. And there are other “oriental” looking people who are Moslem as well.
But there are plenty of Asians who are Christian, Buddhist, and a variety of other faiths.
Can’t necessarily tell a person’s faith from their look.

However, something doesn’t fit here...
Earlier reports suggested another gunman who was arrested, and too much time seems to have been taken in between the first shooting and the larger masacre.
Something isn’t connecting.
