I have been thinking since yesterday that these school shootings are cropping up more and more often as we as a nation move further away from God. There once was a time that a fear of retribution from God would give these people a second thought before going on a rampage.
The worst school mass murder in the US happened when we were "much closer" to God, so to speak, many decades ago (1930s or 1940s).
The fact is, there are sick and mentally ill people in this world, and there have always been sick and mentally ill people. I know it makes it easier to accept if you can pin it on "moving further away from God", but I think in the end, you have to accept that there are people who are just screwed up in the world.
For every sicko nutcase like the murderer, we have men and women like one of his victims:
Liviu Librescu:
Liviu Librescu (circa.1932 April 16, 2007) was Professor of Engineering Science and Mechanics at Virginia Tech and a Holocaust survivor. His major research fields were aeroelasticity and unsteady aerodynamics.
Librescu was murdered in the Virginia Tech massacre while holding off the gunman at his lecture hall entrance so his students could escape.
Librescu was among the 33 people killed in the Virginia Tech massacre on April 16, 2007. He was killed in the Norris Hall Engineering Building. He was 77 years old. According to Fox News reports, Librescu held the door of his classroom shut while the gunman was attempting to enter it, and was shot through the door, but was able to prevent the shooter from entering the classroom until his students had escaped through the windows
So don't despair - for every sick and evil person in the world, there will always be at least one good person such as Liviu Librescu.

I aure am concerned about President Bush being there today. With all the nutcases in the world, who knows what could happen. We have plenty of home grown hate amung us. I would not put it past Rosie and her following to do some big protest.

“I’m thinking the Mods ought to scrub the thread of mentions of this guy.”
Seconded!
He has enough on his plate without MORE publicity, and some will react to posts a thousand lines up without getting to the exculpatory part.

Sounds like the gun dealer on that forum who said he was being questioned by ATF about selling a gun to Cho really was telling the truth.... I was just going to post the same thing. I'm sure the man is going to be vilified, even though he didn't break any laws.:/

Victims were found in 4 classrooms.
Can not say with all certainty that same shooter was at both locations.
Reasonable to assume Cho was shooter at both locations, but still investigating.

State PD,
One weapon used in both shootings -but- they are -still- exploring if their was a different shooter.
WTF!

Well, if it’s his “ex-girlfriend” he might not know which classroom. Hey, I don’t think I knew which classes my now-wife was in every minute of the day (we both are Va. Tech graduates BTW, and she was in the college of Civil engineering, and it’s quite likely we both took classes in the rooms where the shootings took place).
But he wouldn’t have to ask questions — because he would know what his girlfriend looked like.
My initial RAMPANT SPECULATION was I’m sure wrong, but would make a good TV movie I think. Guy shows up in the dorm and finds his girl in bed with the RA. He threatens her, they get in a shouting match, at some point she says “don’t blame the RA, you are so unsatisfying that I’ve been sleeping with all the guys in my French Class”. He goes into a rage, shoots them both, and then heads to the french class to kill all the other “men” she’s been with.
To: Alia
Alia, I get your point, but when the President of the University was on with Geraldo earlier this morning, he said the police thought it was a murder/suicide.Seems to me that would have been ruled out if no weapon was found at the scene of the deaths in the dorm.

Agreed ... the guy said Cho’s paperwork was all in order and that it was a good transaction, unless clairvoyance becomes a requirement for gun dealers, that’s about all you can realistically do.

“Disturbing note”...disturbing to whom? The guy already killed 32 people. Wonder what the term “disturbing note” means?

So now it falls into place. The Chicago Sun-Times story last night was wrong—the Chinese national from Shanghai must’ve been one of the victims, or at least in that class and left his cellphone behind near where the perp assumed room temperature, because that’s how they “identified” him.
And, if Cho was a resident alien with a green card, it’s perfectly legal for him to buy those two handguns (one month apart, in Virginia). I feel for that gun shop owner in Roanoke. He made a legal handgun sale and now he’s going to be facing lawsuits like he could never imagine.

I have not adopted the story of the guns yet. Not that it might NOT be true, but I don’t think we have firm confirmation of either the purchaser, that the story on the internet is accurate and not made up, or that the guns used had their numbers wiped.
Like I said, not that the story might not be true, just that I’m waiting for an official statement. The officials are being VERY good I think at only saying as fact things they have absolutely verified as fact. And while some people are getting upset with the officials for not speculating or shooting off about stuff, I for one am very pleased that I think I can trust that when something is said by the President of Va Tech, it will be a fact that has been fully verified and accurate.
