This was no random act; regardless of motive, none could possibly think of this as a simple rage incident or jealous response. This was planned, by a person who either knew the campus personally or had studied floorplans. With that in mind, it brings motive to the fore; there are easier places to commit random acts of violence, so this was about planning the murder of a large number of unprotected people.

Wow, it sounds like it could be the same kid. I wonder if my s-i-l called her friend?

What a frantic day it's been. My nephew works on campus and we couldn't track him down until about 1:30 this afternoon. That's when his dad told me the story about my sister in law and the girl who'd been shot.

I have to wonder about the two hour gap between the two shootings.

Just heard again they thought the initial shooting was an isolated event.

My question is, how would they know that without the suspects dead body or in custody?

Why would they assume the shooter just left the campus? Or did they?

None taken. But I'd rather have my fake guns have a "real" feel than a "real" look. (Mine are all metal, and have a good weight to them). Plus, I don't want to unnecessarily scare anyone.

Here in California, this is pretty much as close as I can get to owning the real deal... and I can't imagine this incident is going to help anything.

If he’s a repeat offender, what about dna? tatoos? stuff like that. They must know who he is if a real girl lived in a dorm and he went there before.

The 2nd story in posted at 5:27 PM contains some sort of description of the shooter. Tan clothing is also mentioned here with black vest. “Asian” again mentioned.

You have to quit assuming it WAS a boyfriend. The police are still denying this element. Additionally, there are many times a girl is seeing someone and keeps it a secret; for many reasons. Who knows, if it WAS a boyfriend, or a fling, or whatever, maybe the “shooter” is married. There are so many scenarios one could imagine; so many possibilities.

From what little data is available: the first shooter could have been arguing with a female, not his girlfriend. They could have been affiliates from any number of organizations or alliances. I think without additional data it is presumptive to assert a "crime of passion" vis a vis "boyfriend/girlfriend" scenario.

Further, after the shooting, if so called perp was so heavily (and obviously) armed -- how did this shooter "disappear" into the framework and reappear two hours earlier without anyone noticing.

In re the "crime of passion" -- no additional data provided by whomever asserted the "boyfriend/girlfriend" angle -- as to what happened next. In a shooting situation, people run for cover, with an eye to maintaining, if even peripherally, on where the shooter is going, moving.

I assume they assumed this because of the nature of the first killings. He hadn’t shot anyone else in the hour or so after the first shootings, so it was a perfectly acceptable assumption to make. They had no idea who he was, apparently, or they would have been doing some investigation about where he lived, and would have been looking specifically for him.
