Gunman on Campus; Stay inside your building, away from windows; Shooting incident at West Ambler Johnston Hall

Not only that - I heard less than half an hour ago (if it's true) that there are still some bodies in the classrooms!!
What makes a 21 year old college student a poor risk for CCW, but a 21-year-old plumber's apprentice OK?
Nationwide, people 21 years old and older are getting their CCW licenses. Go list how many were involved in drunken shootings. I'll give you a hint: if ANY CCW holder ANYWHERE in the US was shot somebody while drunk, what is the probability that it would NOT be national news?
You don't shut down a community of 26,000 because someone got shot. At the time it looked like a single incident. Do they close your town down when someone gets shot? If they had shut down the campus where would they have put the thousands of students who were on campus for class that didn't live on campus? Have you ever been on a campus as large as Virginia Tech? What you're proposing would have been logistically impossible. And if it had been done and students were congregated somewhere in the open and the shooter started picking them off there'd be people blaming the police for that too.
No offense meant. I don’t own any of those things but most that I have seen have been painted over by people looking for that “real” look.
What I want to know is this:
A guy supposedly shoots a girl cause she cheated on him, and nobody in her dorm knows her boyfriend’s name?
I wonder what would constitute a "godly" amount.
No, I heard it too, earlier in the day.
I don’t *know* that but it would certainly APPEAR so.
And very pointedly so.
I’ll tell you another thing I found very odd. The only person that showed any emotion was the police chief. The Pres and VP of the University and the students interviewed on camera were way too calm. I realize the students might just be in shock, but still, the guy was so non-plussed.
AWAITING NEWS CONFERENCE right now.
Yes, there are people here claiming that the administrators should go to jail, which is a knee-jerk reaction based on very little information. It’s one of those ‘we have to do SOMETHING reactions’, that usually results in big mistakes.
I agree, after the facts are assembled and the dead buried and the mourned...we will be in a possession to ascertain if the authorities share some measure of blame.
“I can reach around the back of my head, cant you?”
Yes I can. I wasn’t saying it was impossible. What I was trying say is that type of suicide is IMHO very unlikely but if a police or FBI sniper nailed him then the back of the head shot seems more likely. It all smells of major spin control
Yeah, go figure.
I’d agree but it’s hard to believe they can’t, over the course of a full day have a name and prints to match just by asking some of the girls friends who she was seeing. Also it doesn’t make sense that this guy would care about being ID’d if he was an enraged lover and obviously he didn’t.
It's gonna take a while to process than many bodies and crime scenes.
That's nonsense, IMO.
A college campus the size of a small town at a time of the day when kids are too busy getting ready for school..why would anybody suspect anything more than a solitary shooting?
There were no suspects, no hostage situation...they didn't even know if it was murder suicide. We don't know if the shooter left a decoy weapon at the scene. There were no reports of anybody running away from the scene.
The college president took the position that it was better to get the kids into their classrooms and THEN lock them down...since it takes up to twenty minutes for some students to walk to their classrooms.
IMO, the college acted properly. Blame the shooter...for once.
What this guy needed, IMHO, very quickly...the sooner the better, was hot lead firing back in his direction. People who are dodging bullets very quickly become less accurate and less efficient killers themselves. More people, common citizens need to be armed, plain and simple so they can take responsibility for their own safety.
That's the truth of this situation and is something our founding fathers recognized and clearly articulated in our constitution (despite all the liberal wordsmithing of late) well over 200 years ago.
Maybe they're all thinking 'Which boyfriend are they talking about?'.
