Exactly! Makes you wonder why the reporters bothering the college President and the police chief can't have figured that out by now!
how long can it take to send guards to the parking lot entrance or post signs that say “turn back, no classes, campus shooting investigation in progress”.
I guess that explains why they had the school reporter handcuffed---he was asian.
Was it a moslem terrorist? ID was “asian”?
Tell them to show it to the cops at the college they could not give a discription of him at the news conference.
I’m still at work, so I haven’t seen the press conference, but I’ll still say a word in their defense. I know Dr. Steger, albeit just a little bit. He’s a university President so he should know something about public relations, but no one could be trained to handle the kind of situation that he and the others there have faced today.
He probably knew it was going to be a bad day first thing in the morning when he realized there was a murder in a residence hall. That doesn’t happen every day, probably not more than once every few years, but in a community of 26,000 people it does happen.
Nobody could have prepared him for what happened in Norris Hall just 200 feet from his office around 10am, because it has never happened before anywhere. He undoubtedly personally knows some of those who have been killed. In the last few hours, he’s had to oversee the evacuation of campus, relocate and set up a new office, gather as much information as he can about the situation, and probably report over the phone to the governor and numerous other state government officials.
It’s probably true that he isn’t really prepared to face the world media, but it’s also true that if he did not hold a press conference to share what little information he’s gathered, he would be criticized for that.
Just my opinion.
Oh, well, that makes sense, sort of. Altho, if they know he was in bed with the shooter’s girlfriend, they have to know who the shooter is. Otherwise, he’s just a guy who shot two people who were in bed.
susie
The state of emergency may allow the Governor to cut through the bureaucracy to quickly get all of the resources needed for this tragedy.
your 734. They don’t call them sleeper cells for nothing. Va has ‘em.
I get the feeling the ATTORNEY’s are scrambling to cover thier civily liable ass on this one....

“:The Shooter is responsible for the shootings, NOT the College or the Police.
Personal RESPONSIBLITY People! Granted we live in an area of Government should be responsible for everything age, but that is BS. IMHO, BLAME THE SHOOTER! Unless you are Psychic or have a magic 8 ball, there is NO WAY you can predict this sort of random Chaos, let alone figure out a way to prevent acts of random chaos and violence!
The SHOOTER is responsible. No one else”
UMMMMMM NO. Responsibilty not only should be given to the shooter but IMCOMPETENCE could also be at fault here. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT IT WAS OKAY FOR THE COLLEGE NOT TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT A SHOOTER WAS ON THE LOOSE? Are you nuts? There should be other people held responsible...not only the shooter. You are crazy if you think they handled this correctly. They all but admit they didn’t.
For getting people out, yeah, you can do that. Now what happens to the thousands of students coming onto campus? They end up milling around, and now you’ve got, eh, say 15-20 thousand students and faculty and staff standing outside. If you’re worried about random shooting, or even (God forbid) a real terrorist attack, that’s a much BETTER target than if they were “locked” inside buildings.

Oh dear, any word by Steve if his son is safe???
