Gunman on Campus; Stay inside your building, away from windows; Shooting incident at West Ambler Johnston Hall

I think the guy may have been on the run for awhile going room to room shooting.
Bill Hemmer is interviewing a sophomore at V Tech. He wants to get a better idea of the *mood* around town and on campus.
I wish there could be a simple answer. When the sheepdog is de-fanged and de-clawed, the sheep get slaughtered when the wolf arrives.
This isn't making much sense, IMO. If he snapped just this morning at 7:15, then why was he so well-planned for today, as a whole? Or maybe he had a hunch his talk with his girlfriend wasn't going to go well this morning? ????? I don't know -- lots of questions.

Gunman kills 30 on Virginia Tech campus (3 min ago)
~Snips
BLACKSBURG, Va. - A gunman opened fire in a Virginia Tech dorm and then, two hours later, in a classroom across campus Monday, killing at least 30 people in the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history, government officials told The Associated Press. The gunman was killed, bringing the death toll to 31.
His name was not released, investigators offered no motive for the attack. It was not known if the gunman was a student.
The massacre took place at opposite sides of the 2,600-acre campus, beginning at about 7:15 a.m. at West Ambler Johnston, a coed dormitory that houses 895 people, and continuing at least two hours later at Norris Hall, an engineering building about a half-mile away, authorities said.
Police said they were still investigating the shooting at the dorm when they got word of gunfire at the classroom building.
After the first shots were fired, students were warned to stay indoors and away from the windows. But some students said they thought the precautions had been lifted by the time the second burst of gunfire was heard, and some bitterly questioned why the gunman was able to strike a second time, two hours after the bloodshed began.
student Jason Piatt told CNN. “But I’m pretty outraged and I’ll say on the record I’m pretty outraged that someone died in a shooting in a dorm at 7 o’clock in the morning and the first e-mail about it no mention of locking down campus, no mention of canceling classes they just mention that they’re investigating a shooting two hours later at 9:22.”
He added: “That’s pretty ridiculous and meanwhile, while they’re sending out that e-mail, 22 more people got killed.”
{{{FBI spokesman Richard Kolko in Washington said there was no evidence to suggest it was a terrorist attack, “but all avenues will be explored.”}}}
Thanks. I might not be the most diplomatic or play-by-the-rules poster but I've been around for a while. :)
Odd, given the fact that in environments such as this, people generally know each other, or have knowledge of others, and word of any known shooter would or should have spread quickly. That is if the shooter was known to be connected with the school, or people from the school.
Can you think of someone on your campus who, if armed, might just gun down 30+ people? I bet you know someone like that, some freak who acts as if they might just snap any second now. I would feel more comfortable knowing there was a second gun around to take the shooter out.
Did you know that today is Yad Hoshoah? Do you know why the Warsaw ghetto uprising lasted as long as it did? Guns.
The worst massacre to occur on a school campus in this country took the lives of 38 people, most of them children, on May 18th, 1927. Not one of those 38 was shot. The murderer, Andrew Kehoe, blew up the newly-constructed Bath School in Bath, Michigan. He timed the explosion to go off simultaneously with his own dynamite-laden truck, which killed himself, the school's superintendent, and three other people. No shots.
How many times does it have to be said before it makes sense? Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Take the guns away from law-abiding citizens and this country will become a shooting gallery.
Agreed - the best weapon for, say, a home defense scenario is almost always not going to be the same one that someone like this lunatic used. Or it may be - it all depends on your situation.
Where did you get that photo from? I have not seen it on TV at all.
But the timeline is nuts.
This guy shot some people, and then three hours later walks into a classroom (not in lock down) and shoots some more.
Something is not right. Procedures for stuff lock this is total lock down, right away.
Tis why TM is so valuable...all the ‘coinkydinks’ in one place
Probably. It will probably take a day or so to get the actual sequence of events. With these kinds of situations rumors fly like wild.
You are a oxymoron period go play on the freeway
Well said.
Shot both the RA and the girlfriend and then moved on to a professor he had a disagreement with?
Maybe the teachers assistant was sleeping w/his girl or something...
Now I would say it Islam > jihad > violence. (> read as implies)
But what I was responding to was only Islam = Terrorism.
Until Islam does not imply jihad read in the way today’s salafis read it, it will always be victim of Islam > jihad > violence. That would take some mighty hard reformation since it’s a very clear in their religious texts that jihad can and logically, counting on your pov, be interpreted this way. This will always come back to haunt them.
I wouldn’t hold my breath.
