Gunman on Campus; Stay inside your building, away from windows; Shooting incident at West Ambler Johnston Hall

Mine too. My youngest is away at college and I can't imagine what it must be like for the parents of those students watching this massacre unfold. It's truly heartbreaking.
I posted this upthread and no one commented.
MSNBC had a telephone interview with a student who was shot in the upper arm. The student is a sophomore majoring in biochemistry and he was in a Norris Hall classroom. He told MSNBC that the shooter was college-aged male, Asian, and wearing a maroon cap and leather jacket. The student said that his professor was shot. He said that he and other students barricaded the door to keep the shooter out. He said that the shooter did not appear to be looking for anyone and that the victims were randomly shot.
I am not sure of the religion of the shooter but I do know that this was a Terrorist Attack.
They’re not saying anything about the shooter yet.
Oh, dear. Someone else just said 32. I guess he shot himself, too bad. I’d love to see him get the chair for this.
I pray that your friend’s son is safe. His parent’s must be going through hell right now. My God give them comfort strength and hope.
Feds saying 32 dead...being reported on the local feed
Thanx for the good context. The kneejerk gun control questions to the prez today remind me of Chelsea Clinton’s initial response on 9/11 :” What I’m most worried about is that people are hurt and they might not have access to proper healthcare.”
My sister is a US Govt employee at VaTech. We just made contact with her.
Thank God she was in Wash D.C. today. She says that some of the shooting was in one of the 3 buildings in which she normally does business. I don’t know which.
something troublin about this shooting’s M.O. Remember Hamas or hezbolla or AlQueida...they bomb and hide and wait for 1st responders to show up and then bomb again....This M.O. was the same
Good post. Virginia schools are one of the plans that they have drawing of (see my post #709)
FOX has been reporting that due to the high winds they could not use helicopters to evacuate the wounded to trauma centers. Many of the wounded had to be taken in police cars.
So I agree with you, many of these fatalities are most likely due to the fact that immediate emergency care was unavailable. Horrific events today.
That's not the usual "no link to terrorism" denial by the FBI.
THey might be wearing hospital booties to preserve trace evidence; not contaminate the scene.
“Without question this was a terrorist attack not matter what their religion.”
Possible. But I’ll be shocked if it is an Inslamic terrorist attack. Doesn’t fit the profile. A “martyr” would have gone into freshman history with 200 students and blown themselves up. Walking around killing people doesn’t fit the radical islamic jihadist pattern.
I should spend my life in a hole because being surrounded by armed students would make me uncomfortable? It isn’t your typical permit-holding gun carrier that would make me uncomfortable. It’s the random idiots who would carry his/her gun to class bnecause he/she LOVE GUNS. Don’t act like those people don’t exist and aren’t plentiful. Should we be able to carry guns into stadiums too? I’m not an advocate of gun-conrol but I don’t think the solution to this problem is to allow students to take guns into classrooms. Faculty? Sure. I know way too many people who I wouldn’t want carrying a gun on campus.
This alert/article from the school's web site was just published after business hours this past Friday...
