I'm betting that neither of the other drivers would have been charged in this case even if they had been totally at fault in the accident. The last thing they want is to have a smart lawyer representing one of the drivers issuing subpoenas for information that would reveal just how fast the governor's motorcade was traveling.

The taxpayers of New Jersey had better hope the driver of the white truck doesn't hire a top civil litigation law firm and sue the daylights out of the state.

Hey, that is very clever. Thank you for the good laugh!!!

Glad to oblige. : )

So apparently the governor actually caused the accident by either driving, or having his driver drive to aggressively? It's sounding more like he's at fault.

Are you talking about the Medevac helicopter being used to airlift Corzine? That was absolutely appropriate given his injuries. Or are you talking about the governors getting around the state in helicopters? Please tell me they don’t use Medevac helicopters for that.

When I identify the tailgater behind me, it invariably is a New Jersey driver

What's known as Tailgating in other states is considered adequate separation in NJ. /sarcasm/

Actually, if you leave 2 seconds between cars in NJ, someone will take up the extra room. Standard separation in NJ is 2 car lengths under 60 mph
/not sarcasm/

Yes, that is revision #2. The first one only had Imus in the truck - but then I realized that Sharpton belonged in there too.

The official described the man as a “special needs driver.”

Yeah ... this must be New Jersey, where the former governor described himself, at a 'outing' news conference, as a gay American.

1. jon corzine, in fashion reminiscent of a coronation, shut down highway U.S. 1, repeat UNITED STATES HIGHWAY 1, in both directions for 5 miles on the day of his inauguration at evening rush hour. The resulting traffic was in a standstill for HOURS.

2. If I'm not mistaken and I may be, it's been a while since I've been to A.C., there are 3 exits on the Garden State Parkway that lead to A.C. 38, 40, and 42, each at a mile marker. Going from A.C. to Trenton is a northbound trip. Exit 42 indicates a worker not GOING TO A.C. but LEAVING A.C., as corzine is described as doing.

the governors in the state of NJ have used the State Police copters for official business. Governor Whitman donated the executive helicopter to the state police to be used as a medevac ambulance. I would rather see the governor use a helicopter than speeding on our highways to get to one part of the state from the other.

Cited below is a 2002 NY Slimes newsbrief on McGreevey’s use. I would rather see the governor cut taxes and spending, pass collective bargaining laws to reduce property taxes, etc. The cost of using a helicopter is not a major issue for me unless the governor is using it for politicking:

.....Governor McGreevey came under criticism last week for using State Police helicopters in 45 trips during the first seven months of his term, costing taxpayers more than $13,850 in fuel alone. The governor’s office said that it was important for the governor to visit as many parts of the state as possible and that the helicopters were only used for state business.....

You can always tell a NJ driver in NYC without looking at the license plate: they're the ones aggressively nosing their way into the pedestrians crossing the street, whereas everyone else observes the "Pedestrians Have Right of Way" rule.

That's when they're not turning right on a red light (illegal in NYC).

Corzine’s SUV hit the white van and then lost control and slammed into the guard rail.

The driver of the white van stopped. There has been no identification of that driver.

There are many handicapped drivers in every state.

Illegal alien.

I didn’t think of that.

I thought they may have thanked him.

Just kidding of course.

It’s actually very telling.

I found myself praying for the man as I’m sure many others who can’t stand him have done as well.

I seriously doubt he is an illegal alien.

“State Police did not identify the driver, but Little Egg Harbor police said it was Kenneth Potts Jr., a restaurant worker at Harrahs Casino.”

Fox& FRiends just showed a clip of Kenneth Potts and the red truck.

It was a quick segment but it looked like he might have Down's.

Thanks. If that is the case, the police won't charge him. There would be a PR backlash even if the driver was at fault.

Perhaps the driver is a son of a mafioso.

Hey, Corzine, forgetaboutit.

God Bless him, but the NJ Parkway is no place for impaired drivers.
