Democrats and treason

Call me this generation's Joe McCarthy; I really don't care I'm tired of watching people hold back in their assessment of what Democrat Party leaders are doing with regard to our troops and their missions in the war on terrorism.
A number of Democrats are engaging in actions that seem to me to be nothing short of treason against our nation, and it's time they be held accountable for their actions.
Yes, I said treason.
According to Dictionary.com: Treason is any attempt to overthrow the government or impair the well-being of a state to which one owes allegiance; the crime of giving aid or comfort to the enemies of one's government.
Right now we have almost 200,000 American military men and women serving on the frontlines in the war on terrorism against an Islamic terrorist network that has attacked our nation repeatedly over the past 20 years. As chairman of the nation's largest grass-roots, pro-troop organization, Move America Forward, I work hard every day to help show support for these American heroes.
Each day Islamic jihadists are trying to kill and injure our troops who stand in the way between the jihadists and we, the American people, or in the lexicon of the radical Islamists, the "infidels."
Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has just returned from a trip to Syria that she took in defiance of the U.S. commander in chief and United States military officials, traveling during a time of war to one of the world's chief sponsors of Islamic terrorism.
Syria has sent thousands upon thousands of Islamic terrorist fighters across its borders into Iraq to injure and kill American and Coalition troops.
And this is what Nancy Pelosi had to say for herself as she visited one of the nations in the "Axis of Evil":
We came in friendship, hope, and determined that the road to Damascus is a road to peace.
Nancy Pelosi says the road to appeasing terrorists is the road to peace.
On Wednesday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Pelosi was next considering a trip to Iran, the other leading member of the "Axis of Evil."
Even more galling, Pelosi's travels to appease the forces of terror took place just days after the Democrat-led House of Representatives and Senate voted to call for the surrender of U.S. troops fighting Islamic terrorists in Iraq by 2008.
Democrat Senate leader Harry Reid, who is not commander in chief and who does not have the authority to send American troops into battle or call them home, nevertheless has announced that he will lead the fight to deny funding to U.S. troops if they do not surrender to the forces of terrorism and evacuate from Iraq by March 31, 2008.
Reid cannot even attempt to pretend that this was a principled stand to lower American causalities in one theater and fight the war on terrorism on another front.
Less than five months ago on Nov. 30, 2006 Reid sent a note to his fellow Democrats in the Senate that said: "We're not going to do anything to limit funding or cut off funds."
Sen. Reid knew better then and he knows better now.
Reid has chosen to undercut our troops with the knowledge that his actions are emboldening Islamic terrorists to kill more U.S. troops and to launch more brazen terrorist attacks against American civilians here at home.
Meanwhile, in California, Democrat State Sen. Don Perata has announced that he will push for a referendum on the 2008 California election ballot to send a message to the troops that Americans do not support their missions in Iraq.
Perata's calling it the "Vote Us Out of Iraq" measure, and he hopes his efforts to undermine the missions of U.S. troops will spread to other states. The ballot measure won't alter U.S. foreign policy at all. It merely is a propaganda tool that would hurt U.S. troop morale and embolden America's enemies.
Even the liberal California media has found Perata's actions inexcusable.
Democrat State Sen. Don Perata paints a target on the backs of our troops.
The Stockton Record questioned whether the Democrat lawmaker's move was a "stunt" or "grandstanding" and concluded with the admonition that they didn't support "state funds being wasted to accommodate what is essentially a meaningless gesture."
The San Jose Mercury News speculated about whether "Sen. Don Perata's proposal for [a] ballot measure on the Iraq war just a political ploy."
The famously liberal L.A. Times published an editorial titled "Frivolous balloteering?" that lambasted the "Vote Us Out of Iraq" ballot measure. "Asking California voters to weigh in on military policy is like asking Congress to give advice on filling potholes," said Robert Greene of the Times editorial board.
If even the anti-war, old-line media recognizes that the actions of Democrats like Perata are for purely political reasons, then how can we pretend to look the other way and not confront these awful people on what they are doing to our troops and this nation?
These Democrat leaders are literally helping to kill U.S. troops and endanger American civilians simply so they can try to score political points in the middle of a war.
I'm sorry, but if that is not treasonous conduct at a time when our military men and women are fighting for America's safety and security, then I don't know what treason is.
The author cited a definition that is based on a source that can be commonly cited as non-biased and authoritative.
The source of that definition obviously comes from the intent of the founding fathers and the constitution.
I think that's quite relevant and appropriate.
Well put. Thanks for that!
Not if the last election is any indication.
I don't. If we're going to talk about nailing people for treason, then we need to use the legal definition of treason. The definition of treason in the Constitution was carefully crafted to exclude a lot of things that are and were considered treason by many.
Well we will have to agree to disagree then. Appreciate the posts and explanation of your viewpoint - it’s what FR is all about.
Terrific post!!!
BTW, Impeach98, your tagline is great!
WELL DONE!
The correct word is sedition and the Dems are full of this lowly trait. They give comfort to our enemies and constitute a dangerous 5th column in this country.
Even without the attacks of 9/11, we and our allies were right to finally topple Saddam’s regime. I find it disturbing that many people have conveniently forgotten all of the UN Resolutions that Saddam defied. Justice was finally served to all of those who fought and died during Desert Storm. He started that war, he was allowed to remain in power IF he complied with the UN Resolutions. He chose not to and something HAD to be done.
It certainly was disturbing wasn't it? Lots of very, very close races though is reason for optimism. The 'rat frontrunners in 2008, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, is reason for more optimism.
I agree with Melanie. If you don’t support our Troops and their mission in a time of war Shut the hell up! Just because you voted for appeasement in a congressional election does NOT make you Commander in Chief of our armed forces!
But you are biased, so your objectivity in such words is questionable! :)
Dawn Quixote, slashing at imaginary enemies while THE REAL ones plot her demise, and that of our nation...
“Democrats” and “treason”. That’s called a synonym.
Excellent article.
