This is an “I’m sorry if you were offended” type apology. I can’t wait until the full story comes out.

Much worse than the belated apology, is the uncertainty with which future trials will be viewed. Any indictment handed down by a grand jury, and the vigorous prosecution of those indicted, will only lead to much greater suspicion of the DA’s motivation now than ever in the past. Real perps will benefit by having a public much less disposed to acting on the say-so of an overly ambitious district attorney.

District attorneys do not prosecute every crime for which an indictment is passed down on by a grand jury. They pick and choose which ones they will prosecute, and on the rest, they bargain. The bargaining began much too late on this one. Now, everybody suspects the credibility of all district attorneys.

Normally I forgive but...I wouldn’t touch his apology with a ten foot pole. He is NOT to be trusted. he was willing to sell innocent young men down the river in defense of a woman who falsely accused them just so he could garner more votes. This man is NOT to be trusted. His lack of character is obvious. His lack of honesty is obvious. His lack of decency is MORE THAN OBVIOUS. His lack of being able to be a real man in the face of what happened is even MORE OBVIOUS. He needs to be fired. How long did it take HIM to apologize to the young men accused? He is a disgrace and not fit for public office. They need to fire him just like they fired Imus or anyone else who did or didn’t do something. The double standard has to stop and stop now!!!

This is PURE MANURE

HE KNOWINGLY made wrong decesions on this case. He KNOWINGLY considered these rich boys expendable to his own personal career gain.

His actions were intentional and calculated and now he is trying to do CYA to protect his license to practice law.

If this was a private lawyer an emergency disbarment would have already happened.

How many OTHER people has this prosecutor railroaded?

This case demonstrates the Nifong RULE not the exception.

"To the extent that I made judgments that ultimately proved to be incorrect, I apologize to the three students that were wrongly accused," Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong said in a statement.

He destroyed their lives for political gain, and he thinks that's going to suffice? Hopefully, they will see him in jail, after they sue him and take everything he has!

"To the extent that I made judgments that ultimately proved to be incorrect, I apologize to the three students that were wrongly accused,"

A cynical CYA dripping with insincerity.

I hope they crucify you for what you did, Nifong.

Only about 88 more weak attempts at "I'm sorry" left.

Any of the low life tenured creeps offer up a "my bad" yet?

"To the extent that I made judgments that ultimately proved to be incorrect, I apologize to the three students that were wrongly accused," Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong said in a statement.

He has no business apologizing for his incorrect judgments. That's part of his job, and his correctness is for the courts to decide.

What he should apologize for is the way he abused his office, withholding exculpatory evidence, and for the way he smeared the defendants in the media. But he very carefully did not apologize for his actual wrongdoing.

Cackling MSM Don Imus firing squad:

“Mr. Nifong has apologized. In the interest of healing, let’s move on.”

He has the gall to qualify his so called apology ? Even an unconditional apology at this late date would be meaningless.

Any apology that begins with “to the extent that...” is incredibly lame.

Oh, well Nifong, after you tore a community apart, destroyed several lives, and perverted and corrupted our american system, I’m glad to hear that you’re “sorry”.

That should heal everything and make it allllll better.

Now what he needs to do to mean what he said, it is time for him to whip out his checkbook and pay the players ALL the money is cost to defend themselves from his witch hunt/election circus.

He should be forced to crawl and humiliate himself like Imus is being forced to. The same for the Duke 88 and Duke`s president.

Now, HERE’s a guy that shoulda been frog-marched out of his office yesterday, even before Imus got the NBCBS and CBSBS double boot!

I’m sure that will give the players a leg up in their careers...NOT! Damage already done. Perhaps Nifong should be canned and disbarred to compensate.

So long as we’re at it, who do y’all think is worse:

A: Don Imus, who said something offensive (like he hadn’t done THAT before) and was subsequently fired by both MSNBC and CBS Radio, or

B: Mike Nifong, who insisted on prosecuting three lacrosse players for about a year, even when the case started going south, and still has his job?
