Damn! Will be on Fox today with Neil Cavuto.
Non-Hodgkins is nasty. It's very aggressive. My 17-year old sister had it -- a tumor on her chest wall the size of a grapefruit -- and after prayers around the country it disappeared after ONE round of chemo. She finished her protocol and 15 years later she's married with a little girl.
My mom's non-Hodgkins was worse. It was stage four, spread from her kidney to the lymph system in her neck. It took a bone marrow transplant but she's alive ten years later and has been cancer free.
The chemo and radiation were the worst parts of their disease, not to mention the steroids, blood tests, ports, etc. I'm just so grateful they're alive today.
“So, should he just sit at home and wait to die?”
Where did I say that? I think he should run and whether I vote for him will depend on how likely he seems to beat Hillary. But make no mistake- this is not a neutral factor in his potential campaign, it’s a clear negative.
There is a time and place. Initially, before it was clear the disease was in remission, it wasn't the time or place.
- this disease doesnt look serious enough to be considered a real personal tragedy, but it does look serious enough to be a political hindrance.
From what I have seen, I disagree. But that's for another day.
WE MUST NOW FLOOD OUR USUAL RUN FRED RUN’S ENCOURAGING FRED TO RUN! IF YOU ENCOURGAED TWICE, NOW ENCOURGAE 4 TIMES!!! LET’S REV IT UP FOLKS!!!!
My prayers are with Fred and his family today.
And it's a shame that there are as many deleted posts on this thread as there are. What kind of sick, dung-throwing hoot-monkeys celebrate a man getting cancer? What is this, Daily Kos?
April 11, 2007 Former Senator and ABC Radio Senior Analyst Fred Thompson says he has lymphoma. Thompson is mulling a run for the Republican Party's 2008 presidential nomination.
The following is a statement from Thompson read on ABC News Radio today:
"We have all seen the courageous battle that Elizabeth and John Edwards are fighting, and there are so many others. Fortunately, there are an increasing number of good stories because of the medical advances that have been made.
"I have friends in politics, some in Congress, some running for President, and others who have successfully dealt with cancer. It is certainly no respecter of persons and totally non-partisan. That point was driven home to me about 2 1/2 years ago when, shortly after a routine physical, I was diagnosed with what the doctors call an indolent lymphoma. Of the 30-plus kinds of lymphoma this is a "good" kind, if there is such a thing.
"I have had no illness from it, or even any symptoms. My life expectancy should not be affected. I am in remission, and it is very treatable with drugs if treatment is needed in the futureand with no debilitating side effects.
"I am one of the lucky ones. There are many lucky ones today. And for all of our diversity, we share one thing in commona deep appreciation for the fact that we live in the United States of America and have the best medicine and the best doctors the world has even known."
This is so encouraging..

I haven’t had a chance to go through the whole thread ... my .02, he’s putting this on the table to see what impact it will have before pulling the trigger on running. If it looks like it’s not going to be a big deal from the reaction, polling, etc., he’ll go for it. If it looks like it will be a big deal, he won’t. Pretty simple. I really don’t think it’s a big deal given what we know so far about his condition. But in the real world, the “C” word, and lymphoma is a cancer, is still awfully scary for a lot of folks. So who knows whether it’ll be a big deal or not?
I noticed that too. What the heck is wrong with them?
“Fred was diagnosed 3 years ago and would start being president in 2 years. That means he would be 5 years into an incurable disease with a median 10 year surival.”....
Right there, you gave him a median 10 years to live.
FoxNews really has a poor, poor track record with "breaking news" -- they frequently screw it up, to some extent, in a rush to get it out there fast.
Good news! Thanks!
I hate Fox News sometimes. I posted something from ABC news - a Statement from Fred himself who I believe more than Fox news! My post #228
Fox News can make even a fart sound like a H Bomb just exploded!
I just saw a snippet of Cavuto’s interview with him. Folks HE’S RUNNING! He was explaining how his disease was mild and would not effect his life or duties. If he wasn’t running he wouldn’t be trying to asuage any fears on his health.
LOL! Post of the day!
Prayers for Fred and his family!
