Double Standard for Don Imus?
Fox News ^ | April 10, 2007 | Angela McGlowan

Posted on 04/10/2007 6:47:24 PM PDT by redstateone

“There is no doubt that Don Imus was wrong and should be held accountable,” says McGlowan. “But what of our own people? Gangster rappers and others use this language every day. To not hold those people accountable as well would be a double-standard. So if Sharpton is going to ask Imus to step down and call for a boycott of Imus’ show, then he should boycott all radio stations playing gangster rap.”

I might actually feel some pity for the guy if I didn't know that he would be the first to pile on if it was someone else in his place, especially if that person ever voiced conservative or Republican ideas.

The macaca thing was never ending back in October, but on the other hand Imus was a big Santorum supporter.

Liberals make up the rules as they go. This shows the lack of guard rails on the liberal side. They have no anchor. They have no fundamental beliefs. They bounce around like a pin ball on a pin ball table.

I heard Laura this morning for a few minutes..and she mentioned being on H & C tonight..and she even mentioned that they talked her into doing a “Brady Bunch” show...

which means having 3 or more guests in one segment.

She said this morning that she usually won’t agree to do them because it is hard to get a full sentence out.

Methinks she realizes she made a mistake...but, I coulda told her with Leo Terrell on she wouldn’t get ONE word in!

Absolutely! Imus is a reliable Bush-basher, and that makes the difference between getting suspended vs. getting fired IMO.

I don't expect Imus to step down after his suspension. I think the Left covets access to his microphone too much.

Sure, a Conservative radio show host makes a comment and he's immediately dumped; Jeff Jacoby is accused of plagiarism conveniently in time to suspend him for the remainder of the 2000 election cycle.

It's all about silencing voices, except when it's a voice for the Left. They are anguished over what to do about Imus more than anyone else, because they don't want to lose his popular show, especially since the MSM "stars" hang out there.

This week it’s imus, next it’ll be hannity and then they will go after the big gun Rush.

They could use this as a start to bring back the fairness doctrine.

He might at least ask Mr. Sharpton “Who does more harm? The lame old white guy doing radio shtick, or your own young men, preaching these same things and being glorified by even those who should take offense?”

He sort of tried that on the Today Show and Matt Lauer and Sharpton immediately accused him of trying to shift the blame.

I will be astounded if MSNBC fires him; if Imus goes, so does MSNBC; he’s there only ratings getter; he beats all the other shows.

Frankly, if I were him, I’d tell them all to kiss my white butt and quit.

What can I say other than Don Rickles!

A time when people laugh at jokes. If I was Imus, I would have never apologized.

Don Rickles on Letterman

Don Rickles again with Letterman.

she wasn’t able to get a word in - she seemed miffed at Hannity for not controlling the other guests.

Well, everybody has been going wild today; it’s a feeding frenzy; it’s like the black racism people suddenly think they’ve got a shot at bringing reviving their careers.

They want to ban the N word... fine... now that someone insulted black people without even using the n-word, they still throw a hissy fit.

They will never be satisfied. I think Imus was mocking the way people talk. He didn’t say it with hate or racism. I am not an Imus fan, but for God sake, leave him alone!

Either that, or I want to see all these hip-hop DJ jerks fired whenever they make a reference about ‘snowmen’ or ‘pale faces’ - if you catch my drift.

These black leaders are scumbags. They have zero credibility. Back with the Michael Richards thing, the argument was that Richards used the N-word while his ‘victims’ called him a Kracker.

We heard from the Al’s and the Jesse’s that although ‘kracker’ may be offensive, it still doesn’t hold the same weight as the n-word. Fair enough.

However, now that the n-word was never even used... it was “nappy headed hos”, they are making a big deal over it.

So they’re saying that nappy headed ho’s is somehow worse than the term “Kracker”?

I’m getting confused here.
