Double Standard for Don Imus?

There is no doubt that Don Imus was wrong and should be held accountable, says McGlowan. But what of our own people? Gangster rappers and others use this language every day. To not hold those people accountable as well would be a double-standard. So if Sharpton is going to ask Imus to step down and call for a boycott of Imus show, then he should boycott all radio stations playing gangster rap.

Bingo! Of course it is a double standard. Imus didn’t make that line up. He got it from the black community.

Sharpton is noteworthy for having maintained a pattern of heavy criticism against violent rap music and the whole hip-hop culture.
Still, there's only so much one man can do.
And I don't particularly like Imus anyway.

She hit the nail right on the head.
Couldn’t agree more; Angela McGlowan gets it.
Wish everyone else did.

anyone watch H&C tonight? Laura Ingraham walked off during a commercial break in the segment on this topic that she was a part of.

In 1994, Rapper Ice Cube made a song that called white women "cavebitches."
There was no outrage, gee, I wonder why?
To: redstateone
Double Standard for Don Imus?Of course. Liberals are exempt from criticism when they make their hate public. Hillary with gas station owners, Jesse (the adulterer) Jackson with Jews, etc. They all gain power by being racist.

Angela McGlowan’s call for the firing of all gangster rappers who use similarly filthy language is brilliant.
But I’m not holding my breath that Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or any other liberal will do so.
To: redstateone
Double Standard? I didn’t know there was a standard anymore.

Am I the only one who is sick and tired with all this apologizing going on the last few years? Every other day somebody’s on tv apologizing for something. Have we really become a nation of pu$$ies?

I have to watch the replay. she was in a segment with Larry Elder and some other fellow talking about Imus, and when the commercial came up she said “I’m outta here” and didn’t come back.
and now Dr Cyril Wecht is insinuating people don’t like Howard K Stern because he is jewish. its a wild show!
To: redstateone
My only problem with comparing gangsta rap to Imus is that I don't think it's wrong to hold someone in their 60's to a higher standard to an illiterate teenage thug with a record deal. A comparison with Jackson/Sharpton is more valid, since these men are held out to be black leaders and are middle aged adults.
I hope that gangsta rap doesn't become the standard of discourse in this country.
