Girly cars vs. Manly cars (Laura Ingraham)
Laura Ingraham radio show ^ | April 9, 2007 | n/a

Posted on 04/09/2007 6:53:58 PM PDT by fkabuckeyesrule

I was listening to the Laura Ingraham radio show today and they were talking about how some cars are girly cars and some are manly cars. Laura was particularly mentioning that the Mazda Miata was a girly car. This was news to me. Her assisitant chimed in with saying the Mazda 3 was a girly car. This was also news to me. I'm in the market for a new car and was thinking of buying the MAzda 3 or a Miata. I've been told that the 3 has fewer service issues than other Mazda cars.

Of course one would gather that the manly cars would be trucks.

One girly car I've noticed is the VW Beetle. I've never seen a man driving one of those.

What do Freepers think? What cars are girly cars and what cars are manly cars.

My wife (in her late 40’s) wanted a Nissan Xterra.

She thinks they look cute. And they kinda do. I did the research on them (Motor Trend’s SUV of the year for 2006) and got her one

Nissan markets them as manly cars for outdoor-type men, but my wife (all of 5’2”) loves her “X”.

Personally if I had the $$$ to spend on something like the HP2, I’d opt to get a used KTM and put the rest in a vacation fund to travel around.

Those 1200 GS’es are nice though, great for the long distance rides (from what I’ve heard).

Once upon a time I had a 280 ZX with T-tops. Had that long Jag XKE look. For the money it was a great car.

How can I say this so you’ll understand...THE MIATA IS A GIRLY CAR. There’s no debate.

Only some miatas are girly...... Monster Miata

Oops. I left out the Honda Civic. It belongs in the #3 slot.

The GS will probably get the nod, as it is more practical, and costs $5000 LESS than the HP2.

Does anyone have a call on a 4WD vehicle that gets good mileage and is not girly. I like the idea of a truck, but travel a lot in winter for ski racing (400 miles/weekend) and just can’t afford to drive something that gets 10-15 miles per gallon. Currently have a Jaguar XJ6, but it sucks in the snow. Manly yes, but I like it too.

When I said truck, I meant pickup trucks. Not semi tractor trailers.

Although some of those newer ones look a little girly too these days.

BTW, at one time I was in the teamster union. I even picketed....once. For one afternoon. Mainly just to see what it was like. It was acutally kinda fun. Hangin out at the union tables and getting free food and pop from all the other unions dropping by to show support. The actual picketing part was not fun...walking around with those stupid signs...didn’t care for that. But the tailgating part of it was fun. I’m not sure why the company let us do that tailgating thing in their parking lot though. I would think they’d be well within their rights to kick us off their property. Maybe it was a friendly, gentlman’s strike...or something.

Anything with a Hemi (put one on a baby buggy and it's still a man's vehicle).

Memphis: Girl car? What kind of girl drives a Hemi 'Cuda?
Sara "Sway" Wayland: I'll show you.
[Sway puts on red lipstick]
Memphis: Lipstick?
Sara "Sway" Wayland: Matches the car.

How would you classify the Toyota Hilux "technical" with .50 cal mounted in the bed and a bunch of teenaged jhadis hanging off the back?

"Target." Soon to be reclassified as "scrap."

Nice bikes, the first one particularly if you’re going to do some distance.

The second is pretty slick, too, but if I was in the market for that sort of thing I’d have to go with the KTM Super Duke. It looks like insanity and goes like a scalded dog.

I’ve had a Suzuki V-Strom 1000 for a few years now. Actually I think this year makes it four, the longest I’ve held onto a single bike yet. I’m just keeping it fairly cheap now, holding on to this bike. Of course, it also works very well in a lightweight sport-touring mode, and wheelies like crazy :)
