Girly cars vs. Manly cars (Laura Ingraham)
Laura Ingraham radio show ^ | April 9, 2007 | n/a

Posted on 04/09/2007 6:53:58 PM PDT by fkabuckeyesrule

I was listening to the Laura Ingraham radio show today and they were talking about how some cars are girly cars and some are manly cars. Laura was particularly mentioning that the Mazda Miata was a girly car. This was news to me. Her assisitant chimed in with saying the Mazda 3 was a girly car. This was also news to me. I'm in the market for a new car and was thinking of buying the MAzda 3 or a Miata. I've been told that the 3 has fewer service issues than other Mazda cars.

Of course one would gather that the manly cars would be trucks.

One girly car I've noticed is the VW Beetle. I've never seen a man driving one of those.

What do Freepers think? What cars are girly cars and what cars are manly cars.

The windshield is wrong, it has that lame looking R model front valence it looks like a two seater the hood and car are too short, is it a Miata chassis?

Ugly, too expensive and the hood never looks like it fits right.
Would I drive one, hell yes.

I love the Mach 5. The Wachowsky brothers (Matrix) are producing the Speed Racer movie due out in 2008.

The old ones were mostly driven by male hippie potheads who listened to the Doors and Iron Butterfly, and looked like this:

I’ve known two Miata owners, one was a young childless couple and the other was a gay guy.

How can I say this so you’ll understand...THE MIATA IS A GIRLY CAR. There’s no debate.

Hildy, I know you and I don't agree all that often, but this is one of those times that you're right on the money! :-)

"Of course one would gather that the manly cars would be trucks."

My wife drives a truck.

We don't own any sedans or roadsters; what are they good for?

The automotive writers tend to classify most low to mid range sporty cars as womens cars, such as Miata, Boxter, M3 (4,5), Mustang, and Camaro, etc.

I owned two 124’s and they were not girlie cars, but real DOHC/5 speed/drop top sports cars. They had leather interiors, real wood, radial tires, rack and pinion steering and would blow the doors off anything from England or Japan at the time, especially on curvy roads. They ran wonderfully if you could keep them on the road. Anyone who ever owned a Fiat knew it was an acroynm for F-ix I-t A-gain T-ony. I still have all my metric tools from the 70’s, they are well used.

There are cars that are marketed specifically to women. The Miata is the girl’s sports car as the Ford Escape is the Women’s SUV. It used to be the Honda CRV, but the Escape has eclipsed that.

LOL!

I used to put my baby daughter in her plastic carrier BEHIND the passenger seat, right over the battery compartment.

At the time, I could never understand my wife's attitude not being very agreeable or cheerful at the prospect of me driving around with such precious cargo...in no seatbelt...in a FIBERGLASS car.

Today, she's 25 years old...in her 2nd year at YALE Law School, graduated from Princeton with a 4.0 grade point average.

What the HELL was I thinking???

Woah there fellah..you’ve overstepped your boundaries...the Ford Escape is the SUV for women..not the Liberty. The Liberty is pretty damn powerful..and it’s a JEEP. Please. (my husband looks pretty hot in a OUR LIBERTY!).

I’m still fuming from your assertion that the Jeep Liberty is a girly car. NO 4 WHEEL DRIVE vehicles can fall into the GIRLY car category.
