FReepers and other Street Protesters: Check out this great poster software...
Today, silly | Silly

Posted on 04/07/2007 5:08:15 PM PDT by Silly

Are you sick of bland, pathetic-looking posters made with colored markers? Are you graphically challenged and not very software savvy? Do you wish your FReeps had professional, cheap posters that catch the eye?

Today, after looking for months, I finally found an amazing poster software called PosteRazor. It is free, and works with Windows or Mac OSs. You will not believe how easy it is to use.

It takes your image, and cuts it into tiles, then quickly converts them into PDF pages, which you can print on paper of your choosing and assemble into a large poster or banner.

The first time I saw such a PDF file was one that Registered created for the SoreLoserman protest in 2000. I still have the original PDF file he or someone created, but I haven't been able to create PDFs of my own. I did try another poster software later, but it was hard to use, expensive, and I was never really satisfied with the results.

But today, the posters I made in less than 5 minutes were absolutely amazing.

You can download PosteRazor at:

http://downloads.zdnet.com/download.aspx?&kw=poster&osfilter=mac&docid=252527

Or at: http://www.posterazor.com/

WOW!!!! Cool.

Thanks ever so much. I’ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out how I was going to do exactly this for some signs I need to make in the next two weeks.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Here’s a link to the Windows version which doesn’t ask you for your phone number.

Look for the green download button on the page.

No files generated, but what it does is take whatever your single page is and make a 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 output. Takes it directly from your program.

For my HP PSC 1600, from the command line, FILE, PRINT, PREFERENCES, FINISHING, POSTER PRINTING.

I concur that taking this one out of sidebar is a bad move. Since our side doesn’t have Soros’ deep pockets to fund mass produced signs to hand out, anything that facilitates the efforts of individuals on our side should get more exposure.

For your pleasure and edification:

The good looking guy in the glasses is me. The ladies with the playbills are tourists from Texas. The out-of-focus sign above our heads is the famous Cup O' Soup spectacular (yes, that's what those big signs in Times Square are called -- spectaculars).

The poster was easily readable across all of Times Square; I got thumbs up from nearly a block away most evenings. And of course, if you look carefully, you can see the tape connecting the tiles together. But all in all, the final product is really nice.

How cool! Thanks so much - we’ve been stuck with drawings, 8-1/2x11 pages, and my (fortunately excellent) handwriting.

A., a program to print out posters in page-size sections. Figure out how it works!

Gabz, I’ll bet you a dollar I can walk you through it. They use a step by step wizard:

Open the program and:
1. Select your image
2. PIck your paper size and orientation
3. Pick your overlap area (you can ignore this and click ‘next’)
4. Specify how many “tiles” wide and high you want
5. Save the image

The first couple times you might have to fuss around. After you’ve created your first one, they will take you about a minute or two to turn an image into a poster.
