Bloggers to Blame for Rudy's Bad Week? (Rudy Blames Bloggers for His Woes).

Has it crossed your mind that this may be an extremely rough primary in 2008? I asked him.

"It has, and it will be," Giuliani replied. But he also said he did not think the attacks would come directly from other Republican presidential candidates.

"I think more of this comes from the atmosphere in the blogging atmosphere, in the instant news atmosphere, and the minute analysis atmosphere," he said.

Is Rudy blaming bloggers for his recent bad publicity?

Rudy's recent problems have arisen from interviews he granted or speeches he gave.

The most damning information has come from YouTube videos, which merely give the voters a chance to hear Rudy -- in his own words. His primary problems -- the ones that have stuck -- have not come from bloggers scurrilous accusations -- they have come from bloggers reporting his own words.

Debate and argument are healthy for Democracy. And as a conservative, I am happy that we are having these fights now -- rather than in the General Election. Imagine if we didn't find out that Rudy Giuliani was in favor of taxpayer-funded abortion until two weeks before the Genereal Election. In that scenario, we could actually have a Republican candidate who is more pro-choice than the Democrat nominee ...

By going through this process, bloggers are ultimately doing two things:

1. Helping inform the voters to make a better decision regarding who best represents their values.

2. Ensuring Republican voters have enough information to nominate a strong Republican candidate who has been tested -- before going into a General Election.

Granted, not all bloggers are responsible. That's how free speech works. But the cure for our problems is more debate and argument -- not less.

Enough of the hand-wringing. Politics is tough. Get a helmet!

Naw... can't be that Rudy is just another RINO trying to pander for votes.

Gotta be us Pajamaheeden out here in fly-over country being mean to him. LOL...

The Internet crowd has a LONG memory with instant recall. Candidates can no longer expect to dupe the People by flip-flopping on the issues.

This makes Rudy sad. As well it should...

Fredapalooza

What has happened in the last three weeks is nothing short of incredible. Fred Thompson with nothing more than a teaser announcement on Fox news Sunday has rocketed to a solid 3 position (statistical number two position in one major poll) for the Republican nomination. Scores of internet polls have him crushing the competition. I have been watching Presidential politics for a long time and I have never seen this level of gut fervor arising from the grassroots, it’s unprecedented.

Early on the MSM was clueless. The lefty press chose to ignore the movement while several so called experts on the right ie. Barnes, Lowry etc. scoffed at the phenomenon. But the shear magnitude of passion percolating up from the collective conservative persona became too manifest to discount or deny. Now that is has been forced down their throat the Press is beginning to get it. More articles are being written everyday on the Thompson candidacy and the tired old “only an actor” and “lack of Senate accomplishments” narratives are appearing with ever increasing frequency. Expect a lot more.

The vast majority of grassroots Republicans are unhappy with Rudy McRomney and are desperately seeking a candidate they can rally around, that candidate is Fred Dalton Thompson. This bottom to top momentum surge is not unlike the 04 Howard Dean phenomenon with one monumentally important distinction, Thompson is mainstream and eminently electable whereas Dean was neither. That makes this juggernaut decidedly substainable.

I’m beginning to believe that Thompson’s strategy of holding off on announcing his candidacy is a prudent one. He’s allowing the competition to self immolate. Guiliani who’s support is a mile wide and quarter inch thick is estranging himself from the conservative base now on a daily basis. McCain is stuck in first gear spinning his wheels in the South Carolina mud and Romney who is getting a lot of $ from the LDS crowd can’t get out of the starting gate. The press is beating up on them and they are beating up on each other all while Fred just sits back and enjoys the show.

Don’t believe the no money no organization bombast. If and when he gets in the money will flow to him like never in history and the politicos will be lined up half way to Tipperary to hitch their wagon to this star. The pundits will stand aghast as politicians who have “committed” to other candidates bail and jump on the Fred bandwagon. Again, being that this phenomenon is such a rare occurrence in Presidential politics it’s difficult for the “Beltway Brains” to comprehend what’s actually going on.

We are in interesting times indeed. We have a top tier candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States who has not even announced let alone lifted a finger in it’s pursuit. If Thompson enters the fray, he will not add a mere chapter, he will rewrite the book of Presidential election politics. And there will be one word that permeates his White House run like no other in my lifetime, that word is DESTINY.

Rudy supports McCain-Feingold, btw. He’s on record as saying its good, but has loopholes that need to be plugged.

It seems that to Rudy, the BOR is just one big loophole that needs to be plugged.

Except for the ‘right’ to an abortion, of course.

I suspect that there has been some blood drawn by the bloggers. In fact, his campaign is bleeding profusely at this point. These people fail to realize that every time they speak, someone will post it and check the past, instantly.

He’s a man with a thin skin and a tyrant complex. Not the kind of guy I want running the country, let alone being the GOP nominee.

Amen.

Before bloggers, the voting public had to blindly depend on the MSM to represent candidates and their views. Journalists were (and still are) accountable to no one so they take excessive advantage of their position.

Now, bloggers are in a position to keep not only the MSM but the candidates themselves honest. Maybe now candidates will learn to speak properly and to be responsible for what comes out of their mouths. We can only hope.

I'm guessing that "we" are one of those holes that need "plugging" in his estimation.

Rudy needs to just stay in New York. We don't need him.

Excellent point.

If Rudy Giuliani didn't think his past was going to come back to haunt him, he was a naive fool.

The Giuliani campaign made a huge mistake of trying to sell him as a conservative here at FreeRepublic.

He’s not dead.

Good lord we have yet to have a single debate, a single primary.

I would remind you - he still leads everyone by a long shot - and we are 1 year away for even beginning to select candidate.

Although Duncan Hunter is really shooting up in the polls - NOT !!!

Well, it wasn’t the bloggers dredging up old video when Rudy came out for public funding of abortions this week.
