Is Rudy blaming bloggers for his recent bad publicity?
Rudy's recent problems have arisen from interviews he granted or speeches he gave.
The most damning information has come from YouTube videos, which merely give the voters a chance to hear Rudy -- in his own words. His primary problems -- the ones that have stuck -- have not come from bloggers scurrilous accusations -- they have come from bloggers reporting his own words.
Debate and argument are healthy for Democracy. And as a conservative, I am happy that we are having these fights now -- rather than in the General Election. Imagine if we didn't find out that Rudy Giuliani was in favor of taxpayer-funded abortion until two weeks before the Genereal Election. In that scenario, we could actually have a Republican candidate who is more pro-choice than the Democrat nominee ...
By going through this process, bloggers are ultimately doing two things:
1. Helping inform the voters to make a better decision regarding who best represents their values.
2. Ensuring Republican voters have enough information to nominate a strong Republican candidate who has been tested -- before going into a General Election.
Granted, not all bloggers are responsible. That's how free speech works. But the cure for our problems is more debate and argument -- not less.
Enough of the hand-wringing. Politics is tough. Get a helmet!
I heard on the radio today that Newt Gingrich is going to debate John Kerry next week on the issue of global warming. There was no indication of what day or which venue is hosting the event. It was announced on Rush’s show.
That would be the "better idea" I referred to. :)

Soooo....Rudy is THE MAN to take on the massive Islamic terrorist threat around the world and singlehandedly shield America from further attacks...but he’s afraid of the bloggers on the Internet. What a wuss.
At his peak -- in one poll a while back -- he was getting the support of about 40% of GOP voters.
That degree number is "180" :)
I hardly think I am the only one who simply will NOT vote for either of those three stooges. Period.
If the waiter minces up to my table, affects a smarmy sneer, and informs me that, "On the menu today is feces of the oink-oink, bow-wow, moo-moo, or, from the other menu, the hiss-hiss or snap-snap," I'll look the bastard in the eye and say, "No, I don't think I'll be ordering today."
In other words, if a hobson's choice is forced on me, I will not participate in the charade of having a "choice" in the matter.
And as I said above, I hardly think I'm the only one -- and any amount of personal attacks, accusations, and other typical "eat their own" tactics will only serve to steel my resolve. You don't win votes by badgering people (a lesson "our side" never seems to learn).
You win votes by giving the people someone worth voting for.
Thompson seems promising. We shall see what happens.

Quite likely. We are "The Stupid Party", after all. Let's see if we can finally shake off that tag. I'm not optimistic, but I am hopeful. (And before anyone tells me that's a contradictory statement, read it again.)
Don, you strike a chord with me today in your post. I, too, have been wondering about how far one can compromise in good conscience. It seems to me that, while no one wants a Hillarbeast in the White House, there is a theorectical point beyond which you cannot go and still maintain your good conscience....like voting for a liberal just because they have a (R).
It is one thing to vote for such a person without the knowledge that he/she is a liberal; quite another thing is to vote for in spite of knowing it.

Rudy has never supported vouchers. There is a major difference between schools of choice/ charter schools and vouchers.
Vouchers can be used at any private or religious school and the funding goes to them.
If Rudy supports vouchers it would be a major change in his position and one he should explain to all the liberal union teachers he is courting for votes.

At least [liberal] Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot now. That way better candidates can move ahead in the race.
Actually, it's even worse than that.
It's a "haughty spirit" (i.e., "arrogance") that comes before a fall.
Pride results in something far worse than a mere "fall."

(However, that said, I do expect Julie-Annie's "campaign" to fulfil that biblical axiom. He's got even thinner skin than Strawberries McCain, so it's bound to be a real popcorn munchin' moment when he realizes that he can't "make everyone shut up" by "assuming the command voice", LOL!)

I have no desire to read about Rudy.
If Rudeo didn't make such assinine statements, his poll numbers wouldn't be dropping like cement overshoes in the Hudson River. Rudeo's sour grapes comes from the fact that Rudy and his handlers can't control the messages going out over the internet 24/7.
Most damaging to Rudeo are his efforts to bring his nauseating wife into the campaign spotlight. It is nothing short of astounding that Rudy/Judi went on 20/20 with a clearcut plan to advance his presidency and calculatedly saw HER CABINET ROLE as crucial to his candidacy. The fallout was immediate and intense.
The 20/20 debacle was an all-around winner for conservatives b/c it showcases (1) HER as a pushy, know-it-all broad inflicting herself on the voting public, (2) HIM as a wussy dolt whose wife has him by the gonads, and, (3) THE CAMPAIGN MACHINE as hopelessly inept to have signed off on the cockamamie Cabinet idea.
Call it flip-flopping, call it what you will, I approve of the present position, not the past one. Hopefully, Thompson will continue being this clear-headed as the campaign grinds on...
I’m not aware of any recent national polls that would indicate any numbers. National polls are meaningless anyway, as the election will be decided by individual states. Rudy is down in several states, thanks in large part to Fred Thompson, who hasn’t officially entered the race yet.
