The head of a Washington, DC-based organization that promotes ethics in public life is calling on the Senate Ethics Committee to launch an investigation into a possible conflict of interest involving California Senator Dianne Feinstein.
The California Democrat resigned from her chairmanship of the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee after a report revealed that her husband, San Francisco financier Richard Blum, apparently benefited financially from her votes on the committee. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, questions arose when EG&G Technical Services, a division of the URS Corporation -- partially owned by Blum -- won a $600 million military contract in 2003. Blum served on the URS board of directors from 1975-2005.
Ken Boehm, chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, believes there is a serious conflict of interest here. "Her husband has financial interests with some of the entities who benefit from the decisions made from her subcommittee. That's a pretty direct conflict of interest," Boehm contends.
Acknowledging that the senator has now stepped down from the subcommittee, the NLPC spokesman offers: "I think what's needed now, though, is a thorough investigation."
But evidently Boehm does not expect that to happen. He says if the conflict of interest involved a Republican senator, an investigation would likely already be under way and the media would be having a field day. But because Feinstein is a Democrat, he believes there will be no investigation -- and he expects the media will continue to ignore the story.
Culture of Corruption
And Abrahamov is in prison?
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
I demand a SPECIAL PROSECUTOR!........[crickets].......
Where are the Republicans? They should be jumping on the “Democrat culture of corruption” bandwagon.
Abrahamov is in prison, Scooter Libby is facing twenty-five years, DeLay is under indictment, and where is the MSM on this steering of public money to the Senator’s husband’s company? Silence..... Someone should be going after her on this!
Oh my GOD! The culture of corruption! Those damned Republicans!
The hell you say, she’s a Democrat?
Great quote.
When can we start clearing America of Muslims and Communists? (Our two greatest threats. Unfortunately our congress is full of commies.)
Don’t leave Boxer out. Liberals are, by their very nature, corrupt and morally bankrupt. Their gender makes no difference. They were born to lie, distort, and bend the rules for their personal benefit. Or, in the case of Harry Reid, his entire family needs to benefit.
No one is going after a DemoRAT until the American people demand it. The MSM gives Liberals a pass on everything including committing treason.
Hey, there’s nothing here. Let’s just move on.
Remember Melanie Sloan and C.R.E.W.
Payback’s a bitch!
Ya' think?"
Still has not made it into the MSM and the SF based media.
Right. The Republicans are as bad as the MSM. When a Democrat takes a dump on the senate or house floor, the Republicans raise up the rug while the Dems sweep up the mess.
but I ain't dumb enough to hold my breath waiting to hear her.
You know, I heard this on the radio yesterday, but funnily enough, there wasn’t anything about it that I could find in the NYT, the Wash Post or the Boston Globe.
Well, at least Halliburton and the Cheney war machine did not profit in this. </do I have to?>
