Michael Savage: The Enemy Within (One of The Biggest Threats to Conservatives)
Self | 4/4/07 | Self

Posted on 04/04/2007 5:58:38 AM PDT by NYC Republican

To those that don't know Savage or listen to him, he claims to be an "independent conservative"... He surely does espouse some conservative views, but the vile he spews towards Bush, his cabinet, and other Republicans and GOPers could be mistaken for Air America trash.

It would be easy to blow him off as another looney blow-hard, but he's the 3rd most listened-to talk show host in the nation... He has over 8 million listeners, and in calling himself a conservative, he DOES have some real influence there. He's supposed to be on our side, but shifts positions so often, he's become a joke. He embodies every lefty criticism of our side.

In listening to parts of his show last night, he has the following things to say, in a short time span...

* Syria isn't nearly as bad as Iran, they can be spoken to, they don't threaten Israel, they are nationalists not fundamentalists

* The war was started to benefit Oil companies.

* Blasted Bush to no end, said Rice should have been fired a long time ago, blasted the rest of the cabinet

* Said it was OK for Pelosi to go talk to Syria

* Asked why is there a division between GOP and Dems, why do we automatically assume everything they do should be hated, etc.

In my view, this scum is far more dangerous than Air America and nearly every lib out there. He's pretending to be a conservative, yet does more damage to our causes than any other non-politician I can think of, because he has the influence to sway people.

This guy is an utter disgrace and a phony.

Yes, I remember very clearly his accusations against Israel.

Bush started out as a “big government conservative” as early as the GOP primary campaign in 1999. He has NEVER been a conservative on the issue of spending and the role of the federal government.

OK, you may be right on that.

Dennis Miller replaced Weiner in a number of markets.

That had to leave a mark.

It kills me when his listeners (who otherwise appear intelligent), call him DR. Savage. hahahaha

Although I don’t like the way he treats some of the callers to the show (appreciating that some deserve the rough treatment), I listen to Savage so that I can get a two- to three-week jump on what the other conservative talk show hosts will be covering on their programs.

"look where it got us"

Yes deposing Hussein and the Taliban, slaughtering Al-Qaeda overseas rather than here, and no terrorist attacks on American soil since 9/11.

In Michael Savage I’ll think you’ll find a borderline genius personality on the cusp of real mental instability. One minute he will say something intuitively perceptive and the next thing you know he’s off on a deranged rant. He’s a bully and terrorizes his callers who seem to enjoy his rudeness while showering him with obsequious verbal bowing and scraping and blatant idol worship.
I listen to him often but only until he says something so outrageous I have to turn him off.
Here’s one: Hillary Clinton or Michael Savage for President?

He BLASTED Miller, called him an idiot comedian with no listeners... We'll see about that, very shortly. On the other side, Levin's quickly expanding nationally. I frankly would't be surprised if his audience fell to 5 or 6 million in a year

Hate and negativity can only carry you so far...

Pelosi had no business going to Syria.

What about the Republicans that went on Sunday?

Just look at how he’s received on a CONSERVATIVE forum like FR. Overly negative... Must be a reason, huh?

Equally represhensible, but Pelosi is the Speaker of the House, not some obscure congressman.

Great thread-- I'm glad you started it. Many of us heard his comments and are glad to comment on this poser.

I tuned in when he was going after the one caller who said that he was an avid listener and had even planned on voting for Savage for president -- he just couldn't understand how Savage could support Pelosi about this trip. Savage asked the guy, "Are you seventy?"

What a total ass to retort with a question like that!

“OK, you may be right on that.”

Thank you. I am not trying to defend Mr. Savage, but I am sensitive to a certain trend of thought that equates criticism of Bush and the GOP with not being conservative. We are in the middle of a battle over the very definition of the word “conservative”. Bush is at the forefront of a movement to redefine conservatism so that is embraces big government. No joke at all. He was talking about our weakness in Iraq months before Rush started complaining about it. Savage blasted the Dubai deal long before others recognized the potential problems. He discussed the recent Feinstein resignation before the story was even reported on the other shows.

On a non-political topic, he identified the source of the recent pet food contamination on the day the story broke, a week before anyone else considered that possibility. Want more? Work to get past the hyperbole on the show and consider the content.

Savage is no conservative. He is a staunch liberal masquerading as a conservative. All he does is present a caricature of what the rabid left thinks conservatives are.

People don’t like to be told when their emperor has no clothes...and that happens a lot with politicians. If a talk show host wants to be the ‘nail that sticks out the farthest’ he will get pounded a lot.
