U.S. Marine Brig. Gen. John Allen, deputy commander for Multinational Force-West, and Col. John Charlton, 1st Brigade, Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division commander, sit with Sheik Abdul Sattar the head of security for all of western Iraq.
Excellent news! I wonder what the future jihadists coming into Iraq will think once it becomes common knowlwdge that the Iraqis are killing them as they come into their country?
I hope this doesn't affect Nancy Pelosi's visit to Syria. I can't wait to see her telling the US military to "calm down", along with the hand motions. Same thing for the Iraqi government.
ping
Was one of them Pelosi?
Terrific!!!
I love that is was the Iraqis that got them.

One thing al-Qaeda excels at; making new enemies.
With this series of dirty chemical bombings a war between al-Qaeda and the tribes in Anbar is no longer a possibility. It just became a fact.
I've read at least two very optimistic reports from al-Almada in the last week about purported victories of the tribes and police over al-Qaeda in Ramadi and Fallujah. I was reluctant to trust the accuracy of the reports which sited unnamed sources but now seeing the reaction of al-Qaeda suggests that the action of the tribes was so painful that al-Qaeda retaliated in the way we see today.
Al-Qaeda's terrorists-whom AP insists on calling insurgents-expended three suicide bombers and precious resources against their supposedly sympathetic civilian Sunni hosts instead of American and Iraqi soldiers and Shia civilians; their usual enemies.
If this indicates anything it indicates that al-Qaeda's is reprioritizing the targets on the hit list. The reason: al-Qaeda is sensing a serious threat in the change of attitude of the tribes toward them and perhaps the apparently successful meeting of the sheiks with Maliki and the agreements that were made then was the point at which open war had to be declared.
The tribes in Anbar are stubborn and they have many ruthless warriors. That's a proven fact and it looks like Al-Qaeda had just made their gravest mistaketheir once best friends are just about to become their worst enemy.
Also I am surprised that Associated (with terrorists) Press is reporting this.
Every time the words "Al Qaida" appears in a headline, it's a small victory over those who wish to pretend that the activity in Iraq is "sectarian violence". Love it!
One great thing about these guys.....no prisoners.
Fleeing to SYRIA ay? In cahoots with Iran and Hezbollah... An Iranian-Syria Al-Qaida link?... Axis of Evil.... PING!!!!!!!
21 more terrorists headed for hell.
21, in 2007, dead, while a hundred times that many entered every prior year since the liberation. Nice job. Good work. Really put on the thinkin' cap that time. ;')
But seriously, this is good news. It's not the first time an interdiction has taken place, but it is frustrating that the border wasn't sealed right after Saddam's statue fell. It's a little surprising that the [characterization deleted] didn't manage to make a getaway, really -- other than the fact that a bunch of jihadists were probably out to kill him also. ;')
Thanks jmc1969!
Gee, I wonder what the count is? I'm sure 21 will be added to the total and reported on the nightly news... Not..
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM !!!!!!!!
RAMADI, Iraq, 18 September 2006 Sheikh Sattar Al-Buzayi summoned other tribal chiefs last week for a war council at his fortified home in Ramadi, the teeming, scarred capital of Iraqs Anbar province, desert heartland of the Sunni Arabs. There was a bountiful feast of beef and rice, and a vow of unrelenting battle against the common enemy Al-Qaeda.
We have to form police and army forces from among our sons to fight these Al-Qaeda militants, Buzayi, who says the militants murdered his father and his brother, told Reuters. We have now entered a real battle. Its either us or them. Those words carry a powerful promise for US commanders, who acknowledged last week they cannot defeat Al-Qaeda in its Iraqi bases on their own. They need Iraqi tribes Sunni Arabs like the Al-Qaeda militants themselves to take up the fight.
