No, people WORK at Forest Lawn. There are also people visiting loved ones and funerals going on. It is a very LARGE property. Have you ever seen it?
The world's largest painting of the Crucifixion is there, too. I don't know if you're native to the L.A. area but Forest Lawn is one of our landmarks.
YIKES!
This will likely call out several area fire companies, because L.A. Zoo must be saved. I'm guessing the zoo is already heavily affected by the smoke, considering the wind direction.
We had an electrical fire at a building at our zoo a few years back. The smoke was what got to them and some of the monkies didn't make it.
What's your source for that information, BurbankKarl?
Firefighters are doing a great job of keeping the fire from cresting the ridge... prevailing winds are helping a bit.
That's good.
Torching a stolen car is what started that last big fire down in Orange Co. where those people lost their homes.
Personally I think arson should carry the death penalty. I fear we're looking at a lot more fire this year in SoCal.
Ping
A cemetary evacuated?
My son is on a field trip to the LA Zoo today. Awaiting word that they were all evacuated.
Oh I'm sure the school has them in a safe place. He will come home with all kids of stories today:')
It must be pretty ashy at the Zoo but it looks like the fire is nowhere near there at this point. It would have to go through Forest Lawn first.
Did you get a look at the cloud of smoke over L.A.? Freaky.
kinds
My grandparents are in part of that cemetary (Mt. Sinai). I'd like for them not to have to evacuate! Please.
Two by two.
Some people on here don't have a clue about the history that could burn with this fire.
