"Everyone knows hes conservative and has come out strongly for the things that the pro-family movement stands for, Dobson considered the most politically powerful evangelical figure in the U.S. said in a phone call to Dan Gilgoff, senior editor at U.S. News & World Report.
"[But] I dont think hes a Christian. At least thats my impression.
Thompsons spokesman Mark Corallo took issue with the statement.
"Thompson is indeed a Christian, he said. "He was baptized into the Church of Christ.
90% of Christians won't meet dobson's standards. i know i wouldn't.
but i'm not voting for someone based on how religious he is, i'm voting based on where he stands on issues i find important. for example, i wouldn't vote for any pastor i've ever had, as most of them are anti-gun, pro-illegal alien, or both.
Hi - I guess I should have put a /sarc after reverend. I grow weary of these
"higher moral authorities" who claim to know who belongs to God and who doesn't. And even more weary of those who take these judgements at face value. God Himself will make the call one day.
All time classic. Great delivery by Emo, as well.
Maybe the elder George Bush had been drinking when he nominated Souter.
Yes, Fierce, there is: a small red light glows in the center of your forehead which is visible only to Dr. Dobson. Now you know.
If it's Rudy vs. Hillary, what do you do, stay home?
Thank you for clearing that up. Where can I buy one of those?
I was specifically speaking about the Republican primary.
I guess it's entirely possible that he was 100% celibate in all his dating relationships outside of marriage; if so, and he wants to announce that to counter Dobson's blurb, I suppose that's his business.
But my point was (if you bothered to read the entirety of my post), I don't think it's really any of my business -- because I don't think it impinges on his ability to be an effective CIVIL MAGISTRATE. I was asked my opinion, and I gave it: Since Thompson (if he's running) is not seeking election as Teaching Presbyter of a church or what have you, I personally think Dobson's criticism is a bit out of place. With what do you disagree, of that statement?
Dobson is an idiot! By his idiotic statement he's given the MSM/Libs a '2-fer', 1-marginalizing the 'Evangelical' Christians into looking like deep-end kooks, and 2-placing himself one DEEP NOTCH below looney Pat Robertson.
Where did the quote in the headline -- "not a Christian" -- come from? Dobson didn't say that, did he? Not that exact quote. So who said it?
Dobson has praised Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa.
Dobson has praised Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa, so he's not anti-Catholic.
The quote, from Dobson:
""[But] I dont think hes a Christian. At least thats my impression.
What qualifies him as a "wacko"? Name one thing. Just one.
I'm tired of CalvaryJohn. He needs to shut up.
How's that make you feel to hear that? Pretty dumb thing for me to say, right?
Exactly. Dobson didn't say that phrase.
I seem to recall a certain Bill Clinton claiming to be Christian when needed.
