Steve Forbes Joins Giuliani Campaign

Steve Forbes, former Republican presidential candidate, President and Chief Executive Officer of Forbes, and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes magazine has endorsed Rudy Giuliani for President of the United States. Mr. Forbes will serve as a National Campaign Co-Chair and Senior Policy Advisor:

“I am honored to support Rudy Giuliani for President,” Steve Forbes said. “As Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani showed how exercising fiscal discipline – including tax cuts – lowers deficits, spurs economic growth, and increases revenue. It is time the rest of the country benefit from a true fiscal conservative leader who gets real results.”

“Steve and I share an economic vision that embraces supply-side economics, tax relief, and spending restraint,” said Mayor Giuliani. “I look forward to working with Steve and am proud to have him as a member of our team.”

Nice addition, as those of us who value economic liberty certainly look to Mr. Forbes as a leader on that front.

Until now, I thought Steve Forbes was one of the smart ones. Oh well.

no he's just not a religious nutjob... He puts Fiscal Conservatism before ANY other issue... instead of Bush who turns a blind eye to outrageous socialist big government spending (i still wonder why the dems don't like Bush, he spends just as much as any other democrat)...

just as long as he is against abortion and gay marriage, you will vote for them... fiscal conservatism is on the back burner for the religious right.... must stop fags from having unions! /s

I would never vote for Hillary, or Slick. Or anyone with similar pedigrees, meaning a liberal.

So does that mean you will stay away from big spending socialist... on here they call themselves "social conservatives" ... where they are able to turn a blind eye to socialism/spending of the federal government ... just as long as gay people can't marry.... yea the socialist on here did such a fine job electing one of the largest socialist of our time ... Bush... spends money and grows the size of the federal government than FDR has... FDR WAS the king of socialist for our presidents... Bush took his spot.

But where is Steve Forbes in that post? Where does it say he's a Log Cabin Republican?

Steve is not an ultra lib. He is a person of integrity and normally an endorsement means nothing but in this case, it might help.

Even though I have great respect for Forbes, this will not make me support Guiliani at the caucus.

I too had a high opinion of Forbes, this is a disappointment.

Lets leave out the morality of Abortion and Gay "rights" for a moment:

Where does your "conservative" Rudy stand on the following:

Hate Crimes legislation (anti-constitutional)
Gun control (anti-constitutional)
Illegal Immigration (anti american)
Global Warming (Anti-business leftist wet dream)
History of Judges (not good)
Support for democratic candidates (leftism)
Support of the GOP platform (weak)
Condoms for schoolkids (leftism)
Free speech (mixed record)
Extorting legal businesses (sued tobacco comanies)
Gov't interference with legal business (sued gun manufacturers)
Welfare reform (sued to prevent the GOP/Clinton 1996 Welfare reform)
4th Amendment (leftist)
Gov't paid abortions: (leftism)
Welfare for illegal aliens (criminal)
Good judge of charater (questionable)
Federal $$ for daycare (leftism)
Freedom = authority (nuts)
calls himself Progressive (leftism)
Considered Goldwater a Bircher (nuts)
Hate Crimes Legislation (leftism)
Rekindler of "rockefeller tradition" - his words(leftism)
Solicited the Liberal Party nomination (leftism)
Supporter of Bill Weld for 1996 GOP nominee (liberal)
Rent Control advocate (leftism)
Roe V. Wade is "good law" (anti-constitutional)
Comparison to Clinton's policies ("mine are very similar")
Military experience (none)
Supporter of Justice Ginsberg (leftism)
Gay Marriage supporter (leftism)
Keeping his John Thomas in check (Clintonesque)
Support of Feminism (leftism)
Anti-smoking legislation (leftism)

I guess we'll just have to call him Rudy Bloomberg from now on.

I sourced here already. Mike Signorile covered Forbes at Log Cabin conventions at his site, signorile.com.

Steve Forbes also went through the qualification process for endorsement in 1999. Rich Tafel assigned a political advisor to Forbes campaign that had faithfully attended Log Cabin briefings while Forbes was still campaigning.
