CSI Miami episode on Marine recruiter (Vanity)
self

Posted on 03/26/2007 11:56:42 PM PDT by L.A.Justice

Did anybody else watch CSI Miami on Monday night? It was a repeat...The case is mainly about a Marine recruiter who is found dead... At the end, it turns that he really was not murdered...He hit his head hard on a concrete barrier.

A guy confronted the recruiter because he got rejected. (A security risk...His parents were from Middle East.) The recruiter guy was semiconscious in the vehicle...(He was taking some painkiller...He was stressed over some of Marines, he recruited, getting killed in Iraq.) The rejected guy took him out of vehicle and he fell...

The episode was not too bad...At the start of the show, I was wondering if this would be one of those military-bashing episode. I must say this episode was "balanced".

OK...There was one Marine guy who was distraught over his brother's death in Iraq. (Both in the same unit.) That guy sent a hate letter to the deceased recruiter. Later, he tells Lt. Horatio that the recruiter promised that both he and his brother will make much money in the service...(I guess the guy was really distraught.)

By the way, a civilian contractor accidentally shot the guy's brother...

Emily Proctor character tells the guy, who covered up the death of the Marine recruiter, that Marines don't need people who cover up...

Actually, I watch the show mainly because of Caruso...

I don't watch CSI: New York on Wednesday nights...I don't dislike Gary Sinise. On the other hand, I don't find him too exciting in that show.

My mom says the same thing. I think she's got a major crush on Mr. C and his amazing shades.

Different strokes and all that.

I have to admit it was the women that attracted me to CSI: Miami. Especially as compared to the original . As another poster pointed out, Catherine has her potty mouth and attitude, and Fox's character, who I suspect is supposed to be attractive, with her… self. Just doesn' do it for me. Though Grissom screwed up big time not datin' the dominatrix, who was extremely good looking. So she likes whips and chains; I'm telling you, I could adjust = P

Anyway, I liked CSI (didn't love it), so when Miami came on, figured what the heck. And the women grabbed me. The caliente latina detective from the first few seasons, Khandi Alexander, who I thought was hilarious in News Radio, now as a quirky but cute M.E., and the Drop Dead Gorgeous Emily Proctor, accent and all.

Whew.

Could never latch on to the NY version, primarily because of the washed out color scheme they used in the first season (or what I saw thereof). Yeah, I know it's a quirky thing to latch onto, but I'm a graphic designer, and when I see something like that, it'll just drive me nuts if the story or characters can't keep me hooked long enough to get past it, and NY's cast just didn't do it for me (with the exception of Sinise).

Yeah, Caruso overacts shamelessly.

Overacts, you have be able to act first, he is a one trick pony.

I quit counting after he shot a dozen people.

I don't notice that as much, since I'm usually the guy sitting on the couch yelling at the TV, "Just shoot 'im", when the stars of these cop/secret agent shows go into their "we'll be taking you to justice" speeches (usually while the bad guy is preparing to kill a hostage or draw a weapon).

Geez. Enough with the monologues. Shut up an shoot the guy, for crying out loud.

Then maybe Emily will have another scene!

= )

I can't watch Cold Case anymore. It's all indoctrination, all the time.

I have a "bet" with my 17 year old son that Jerry Bruckheimer got drunk one night with his buddies and said "America will watch anything with the CSI label. I am going to make the most ridiculous, poorly acted show on the air, and I bet it will go to #1"

There is no way in the world that show is serious. The worst acting on TV, yet we love it anyway.

As for Monday's show, I also was very impressed. Although the whole concept was absurd (like the contractor claiming he had never been to Iraq), and JAG allowing Horatio Cain to investigate it's crimes. We also rolled our eyes at the wife of the recruiter who claimed that her husband was so stressed because some of the Marines her husband recruited had died. She then went on to state that "sometimes he gets two letters a day about casualties", I said to my husband that he must be the busiest recruiter in America that he would have two casualties a day just from his little area in Miami!

Okay, since you brought up CSI:Miami, I watched an episode recently (one of the re-runs on Spike) where the plot was loosely based on the Kelo case. You know, the sleazy pol using eminent domain to kick people out of their homes so he could slap up some condos.

Anyhow, there was a scene where one of the characters was explaining eminient domain an said (paraphrasing), "The governor is against this, and he's working to change the law".

If the bias wasn't so blatant these days, I'd have never noticed this shining moment of balance.

It's her accent. She's pretty, but can be hard looking at certain angles. But that accent is dreamy.

Remember the episode a few weeks ago...Emily Proctor character got shot by a bad guy at a dock. (Another cop nearby then killed the bad guy.) She lived thanks to the bulletproof vest.

she's the reason why CSI: Miami is the only network show I watch. :)

You don't watch The Unit that goes on before it?

There aren't that many military action shows since CBS dropped JAG.

Maybe that's why she lasted less than one season as the Republican liaison to the White House in West Wing.

I can't stand that guy with the orange hair. He was a buffoon on NYPD Blue, and he still is. How many shoot-outs does the average lab rat get into? How many suspects does he beat up?

She lived thanks to the bulletproof vest.

She got up and shrugged it off, then chit-chatted with a future love interest character?
