Gathering of Eagles, in a town near you

Posted on 03/23/2007 7:41:46 PM PDT by debbieargel

Hello all, I am currently in Florida for a story on my son, Capt. Derek Argel. I want to express my thanks to the Gathering of Eagles and all of the work that went in to the rally. All across this country, I met great Americans who stand for our colors and support our troops and their mission. The Vets I met asked what else we could do. I am 54 years old, and a Viet Nam era vet. When I get back to California, my husband and I plan to go to the recruiter's office and ask if we can serve in some way. Many of our friends will join us as a symbolic gesture to Congress, that we are again willing to lay down our lives for this country. If others want to plan this in their cities, it would send a great message to the worst Congress and Speaker in the history of this great Nation. Perhaps a great "Old guys recruitment day" is in order. We can come up with a date, contact our local media and send a great statement. At any rate, my husband and I will go. Debbie Argel Bastian Proud mother of Capt. Derek Argel , USAF Combat Control, KIA Memorial Day, 2005 Diayla, Iraq

Thanks for your post. I am REALLY fired up! If schools won't let the recruiters in to talk to the students, we can send a message. Imagine if every small town and big city in America had Vets standing in line to serve again! I'll be back in California on Tuesday. All we need is a date for everyone to show up, and present a list to the recruiters. What a great message to the cowards in Congress. Deb

I like it also. I am here in Florida and anything I can do, I will do. I marched with signs in the 2000 election and I will do it again for this great nation.

thank you for the support, and sorry for your son. I'm an 8yr veteran of the USMC and now a SSgt in the USAFR. It makes all of us troops feel better to see people like you guys and all of the Eagles. God Bless Our Overseas Troops and the ones here at the homeland.

It's a super idea, but it needs significant numbers and
publicity. If not noticed by the press, Congress and all
others would not be impressed. I still like the idea of
being useful regardless of the overall outcome....JJ61

"worst Congress and worst Speaker in the history of this great Nation..." I agree with you totally. The description, however, lacked the words traitors and cowards. How do we get that message out to the American people? Today, listeners called into Rush and Sean Hannity's shows furious at today's traitorous Congressional pork barrel bill that stabs America's troops in the back. My blood pressure is off the chart. I called Pelosi's office and the White House, but there has to be more that millions of furious Americans can do.

I really like the sound of this! Please ping me when you have more information.

Kristinn, I've been meaning to tell you that it was your thread after the Jan. 27th protest that made me make reservations to go to DC this past weekend. I will never forget that day. Thanks for writing it and thanks for all you do, have done, and will continue to do!

There is! We can make sure that they see us in great numbers. The troops will see that we stand behind them...in front if needed. If they want to talk impeach, lets start with Nancy. She is aiding the enemy in a time of war. I really want America to join with me in this symbolic recruitment. We can do this if it is well planned. Deb

God Bless you, your family, and your son.

I was at the GOE event in D.C., and have been wondering what we can do to further show our support. Most freepers, and hard-working Americans, can't afford to travel to D.C. (I won't be able to do it again, because of time constraints, personal comittments, and money) to show Congress and the media we are out here.

I do think we need a grassroots effort in every town in the U.S., if it is only 20 or 30 people in every county, town, in every state, we'll be heard.

Let's get it started with this thread. It doesn't take a lot of sacrifice to go downtown in one's own hometown and hold a sign up, to contribute. I know looking at the photos of the GOE caravan (there was a nationwide effort), the message will get out.

Pinging every freeper I can, I don't have a ping list, but I'll do what I can. Freeper friends, hit your ping lists.
