USAF is 4 years minimum.
The 4 years I served were very quiet around the world. It was as if the Soviet Empire knew that I was on duty and they wanted to tred lightly!
Smart on their part!

Yeaaaaaaaa...well there aren't that many reporters these days who would KNOW that the normal hitch in the Navy is four years because most reporters never served in the military.

The blind yellow bellys leading the blind yelllow bellys.

"How do you do 2 years in the Navy?"

"you don't...unless you were discharged early for some reason."

You folks are assuming that the guy who claimed to have been in the Navy for 2 years was, in fact, in the Navy. He wouldn't be the first lefty I've seen trying to pass themselves off as being a Vet, attempting to put more "legitimacy" in their anti-war protesting

Demonstrators said they were directing their protest at major defense contractors Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Halliburton, General Electric and others. The protest had no impact on the stock exchange's trading.

I would like to see some riot control nonlethal weapons from these defense contractors in use (and for testing) to "peacefully" stun these violent protesters in the manner they would like. Bring the VMADS.

On April 25, 1976, with the Cubs playing the field at Dodger stadium, two protestors ran out onto the field with one out in the fourth inning, from the left-field corner and ran past Cubs left fielder Jose Cardenal. They then attempted to set fire to an American flag they had brought with them. Rick Monday (playing center field) saw the men and running over to them on the field snatched the flag away before they could do any damage. He received a thunderous cheer from the watching Dodger fans, and the protestors were led away by ballpark police.

No actually the comittment is 6 years. The difference come from how much ACTIVE service to contract for.
Example:
2 years active, 4years IRR.
3 years active, 3 IIR.

Yep, that's quite true.

It reminds me of a girl I once dated a couple times who used to have me all worried about her "crazy ex-boyfriend Marine". Finally on one date I starting digging and found out he enlisted in the Marines and was released for medical reasons after only two weeks!!! I told her that she needs to stop calling him a Marine. More importantly he probably needs to stop calling himself a Marine before he mentions it around real Marines who I am sure would sniff him out in about 10 seconds.
