Crain's columnist Alair Townsend believes that Rudy Giuliani lacks the temperament to be president. ***.....He was critical of community leaders such as Al Sharpton, whom he considered a mere rabble-rouser. He also refused for years to meet with African-American elected officials, such as state comptroller Carl McCall and Manhattan Borough President Virginia Fields.

He withheld routine information about governmental operations from other elected officials, civic groups and the news media until he was repeatedly sued and ordered by courts to release it.

He was intransigent in dealing with state-controlled entities such as the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. His style was not to negotiate on behalf of the city but rather to confront or demand, or maintain a stony silence. That approach meant missed opportunities for the city.

Mr. Giuliani set himself up as an arts arbiter by threatening to cut funding for a local museum because of a painting he labeled antireligious. The leaders of a number of arts organizations courageously signed a protest letter. Others did not. Those who signed and those who did not shared the fear that the mayor would cut their funding in reprisal.....***

Go Rudy!!!!

What is it in the 20% that does not make him our friend?

"If there's one thing we should have learned from the current administration, it's the tragic risks we face when our leaders fail to listen to divergent views."

??!!!!!

Giuliani - NEVER. Thompson, Hunter, Gingrich - all seasoned, reasonable and PRINCIPLED men who ESPOUSE CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLE, rather than mirroring Democratic views.

The pro-Rudy crowd reminds me of Terrell Owens fans. They all are just dying to have a superstar on their team--never mind that he's poison to the rest of the team. And they will turn back-flips to set aside his very obvious character flaws...

Rudy is a lecherous control freak who grandstanded on the arts issue as he banged his mistress and appeared at gay rights events. His closest "religious adviser" was a priest he had gone to high school with, on the liberal wing of the Church, who was later busted for "inappropriate conduct" with another man.

Oh, crap. We don't need this kind of nonsense in a President. There's real work to be done.

Sometimes, writers of articles prove the exact opposite of what they intended. These writers want a get-along-and-go-along President next time. Haven't they heard of Jimmy Carter? (He was in all the papers.)

It seems they want to avoid another President who knows what he seeks for the US, and who will not sacrifice American interests to placate arrogant and dictatorial foreign leaders who want to put the US in its place. Haven't they ever heard of Ronald Reagan? (He was also in all the papers, and he has a track record of success that Carter could not even dream about.)

Did I miss anything?

The results of an "on-line poll." How is this poll any more valid than the daily poll on Free Republic?

Tough enough to take on the bad guys
Rudy tossed Yasir Arafat out of a city-sponsored celebrations saying, "I would rather not have someone who has been implicated in the murders of Americans there, if I have the discretion not to have him there. My only regret is that I wasn’t able to throw him out myself.” Rudy did the same to Fidel Castro. When a Saudi prince donated millions to 9/11 relief efforts and later suggested that United States policy in the Middle East may have been partially responsible for the attacks, Rudy returned the money.

Unlike the Democrats, who are too nuanced to acknowledge that the “bad guys” in life even exist, Rudy Giuliani knows how to identify a threat to safety and security and pound that threat into submission. Giuliani’s record on crime in NYC is well-documented; if Rudy is able to do to the terrorists what he did to the crime lords of New York City, Americans will once again be able to feel secure in an uncertain world.

Oh, isn't that precious: a painting he labeled antireligious--

Uh, wrong, the painting did a swell job of labeling itself not only antireligious but crap.

And Rudy had the guts to smack the museum causing all the crappy antireligious fairies to shriek at ear-shattering decibels.

He is my kind of guy.

Just voted in their new poll!

The state Legislature approved changing New York’s presidential primary to Feb. 5 from March 4, joining as many as 20 other states. Do you support the move?

My comment:

"I'd prefer not to have you ankle grabbing Blue Staters influencing the nominations for a queer smooching cross dresser and a bull dyke rapist enabler."
