(IsraelNN.com) More than 7,000 French Jews have signed a petition asking for political asylum in the United States because of anti-Semitism in France. The petition makes pointed reference to the murder of Ilan Halimi, a 23-year-old Parisian Jew who was kidnapped and tortured to death last year by an anti-Semitic gang, and says that "following the barbarous murder of a young Jew because he was Jewish, in the context of the rise in anti-Semitic acts committed by Islamic fundamentalists, numerous members of the community no longer feel safe in France."
The petition was sent to the U.S. Congress and asks it to enact a law according French Jews refugee status.
Some French Jewish leaders were outraged: "This petition is bizarre, stupid and out of place," said Chaim Musicant, director of CRIF, the umbrella organization of secular French Jewish groups.
My response to their request:
1. Why not stay and fight for your country and set it to rights? Please don't bring the surrender attitude to America. We have too much of it as it is with our Left.
2. If you are completely incapable of solving the problem there, AND you did what you could to prevent the problem from developing in your country, welcome aboard, IF you are conservative, love America and freedom, and don't carry that French, Socialist BS over with you. Otherwise, sleep in the bed you've made.
Why don't they emigrate to Israel?
I'd take 7,000 Jews before seven Muslims.
The case for political asylum has not been made. How bad can it be for Jews in France when a leading candidate for PM is Jewish?
This sounds like a scam to avoid the immigration and tax rules that everyone else has to deal with.
A lot are going to Israel every year. And a surprising number (though not that surprising when you consider it, because of its high Jewish population already and its french speaking) to Montreal, in Canada. About 1000 to Montreal every year, and considerably more than that to Israel.
Seems some want to come to America, though.
Its certainly possible. But, it might be any number of things. Such as the economic prosperity of the states. Family already here (family already in Israel and Montreal is a big reason French Jews tend to go migrate to those two places in particular) is probably a big one. Maybe these Jews are relatively secular and politically conservative. Which is certainly not impossible given that many of their families originally came from North African states.
Or the French military who is our closest ally in Afganistan. However nobody comments on that. Figures people here just hate France because of one person. Sorta like everyone hates America because of one person. See we are not that different from France.
Why would anyone call you anti-semites? It was a sarcastic comment made in jest that has a basis in truth.
I can see why some might find it slightly offensive (if that), but its hardly anti-semitic, lol
To recap...Ahmadinejad saying Israel must be wiped from the earth and its people driven into the sea= anti-semitic, Hamas calling Jews pigs and donkeys = anti-semitic, Angry obese communist lesbians stating Jewish Zionist AIPAC lobbies are secretly controlling Washington and sacrificing something or rather (depends on the time of the month for them) for some sort of subtle and nefarious scheme = anti-semitic
You? From what I can tell, not so much.
Of course, I could always be wrong..... ;p
The Bloc Québécois will welcome them to Canada.
Some of us have already realized that. And are slowly dragging our relatives and friends, kicking and screaming, into the light...
Emphasis on slowly... It's like herding cats.
He's not Jewish. He's one quarter Jewish by ethnicity. He's Catholic.
It was already bad when we were there in 2001 but it has gotten far worse. I agree with you that this is a good thing. I pray for them over there. They really need it. France has a terrible history of anti-semitism, and they are going to pay for this. God is not mocked.
"More than 7,000 French Jews have signed a petition asking for political asylum in the United States ..."
The french are socialists. About 90% of this 7,000 will vote for rats.
His grandfather was from a prominent Jewish Salonica family. His family had to run away from Paris and hide to escape the German's in WW2. That's close enough.
Ditto that.
"Ditto that."
Add a double Ditto to that.
They voted for the liberal politicians that let Arab/Islamists into France.
I don't want that to happen here in the US.
I sat in the audience at a Sharon speech in Tel Aviv, where about 25% of the audience were young European Jewish tourists to Israel. Sharon specifically told them they must see the writing on the wall, and that Israel is their home, they should make aliyah etc.
This was before 9/11.
They found such people to make the same sort of pronouncements in the Judenrats of the Polish Ghettos during the Holocaust, too.
