(IsraelNN.com) More than 7,000 French Jews have signed a petition asking for political asylum in the United States because of anti-Semitism in France. The petition makes pointed reference to the murder of Ilan Halimi, a 23-year-old Parisian Jew who was kidnapped and tortured to death last year by an anti-Semitic gang, and says that "following the barbarous murder of a young Jew because he was Jewish, in the context of the rise in anti-Semitic acts committed by Islamic fundamentalists, numerous members of the community no longer feel safe in France."
The petition was sent to the U.S. Congress and asks it to enact a law according French Jews refugee status.
Some French Jewish leaders were outraged: "This petition is bizarre, stupid and out of place," said Chaim Musicant, director of CRIF, the umbrella organization of secular French Jewish groups.
Sorry guys, Bush and his friends are only interested in welcoming people with whom we share absolutely no values and who desire the destruction of our civilization. Try Australia, maybe.

This administration allows Muslims and Mexicans into America without limits, so they better do the right thing and allow the Jews. Jews are civilized and contribute a lot to society, and that's the kind of people we need to allow into America!
1 - They should be seeking asylum in Israel - period.
2 - We should not give them asylum as France is not a terrorist state. Nor is it in any lawless condition of anarchy, like say Columbia with the Drug Cartels.
And I don't care if they're French Jews or Pagans from Latvia, the asylum ploy sucks. Most of the scum we legally let in claim 'asylum'.
But the bottom line here is the whole point OF Israel's existence is for people like this. But they probably don't like the climate there so they think, 'Hey there's always the USA, they're suckers for a sob story'. Well sorry, screw that - we're full up.

I cannot speak for the majority, but certain Orthodox groups of some limited influence in France oppose the creation of the secular nation of Israel because that creation should be left for the (in their view) coming messiah.
The most radical of this group of thought are the NK nutjobs that met with Haman Imajihadi in Iran.

You should just come right out and say it. Muslims are the problem and the reason the Jews don't feel safe. France is intimidated by Muslims because of their violence, so they do nothing to protect the Jews. France will end up all Muslim one day because anyone who isn't a Muslim will leave France for a safer country.
They might also have reflected on the persistence of Olmert in power and the psychological condition of the population that would retain him, and decided that there is not much future for Israel.

We don't have many down here in Louisiana, but of all the ones I've ever known, only one was liberal, and I think she eventually turned conservative. Every other one I've ever known was pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, and pro-GOP.

Orthodox. The only Reform congregation I even know about in Paris is Kehilat Gesher, which is largely for English and American ex-pat Jews. (There very well could be a huge Reform population in Paris, but I've never seen it.)
(Reform Judaism was heavily influenced by the Protestant Reformation --- and, as such, largely Anglosphere.)
