just breaking on FOX
Brit's panel is up; Brit went to the dermatologist today and has spots/bandages on his face.
Wish Charles Krauthammer was on the panel tonight.
Fred: He should have said it a week ago because it mushroomed on Capitol Hill and he gave Republicans nothing to rally around. Last Wed. the president was apologetic and although this isn't exactly fighting, it's strong as he can be about this. He knows the Democrats won't accept his compromise...
Agreed. Those two BP agents in jail is a disgrace. As for Libby, I think he's going to win on appeal. Between Fitzgerald and the judge, there's enough hanky-panky to throw the conviction out, IMO...
Maybe they dont want their people blowed up?
Please see post #315..and my subsequent posts..re: Tancredo.
I apologize if I got it wrong...
I'm listening to Mort --- "not a shred of evidence."
You did fine, sleuth and I thank you for your reporting.
UGH...I have rattled myself so bad I gave you the wrong post #...
It is post #513...not 315.
Sorry, again.
I am going to go pound my head against the wall now.
I understand the differences over immigration policy, but how stupid is it to try destroying Gonzalez right alongside the Democrats?? It's President Bush's policies anyway, yet a few GOP bozos in Congress can't resist their shots at the AG precisely when the Dems are on full war footing against us. Mindnumbingly dumb.
Mort: NO shred of proof, yet, that there's any scandal. Yet the Democrast want heads. They want Gonzales, Rove, etc. They will work on Gonzales and will treat him like a punching bag.
Woman on panel: If he wanted to diffuse this today, he could have done that. He could have said we have nothing to hide (DIDN'T HE SAY THAT??) and he should have been more conciliatory. They're going to issue subpoenas and will refuse them. The House of something can hold the administration in contempt which happened to Janet Reno. Clinton ended up turing over documents. THen it goes to the floor of the House and they can vote to hold them in contempt and can take possession of the person (it's never happened). It's in the WH's interest to diffuse...
Fred: How? There are fires all over town. You can't put them out all over town.
You're so GOOD, Peach. I'm watching and you have it word for word.
Congress has the subpoena power. The President can invoke executive privilege. This is governed by case law. The Supreme Court recognized executive privilege in US v. Nixon, but held it is not "absolute." Few cases have been decided and the law is fairly murky. Still I would think Bush's position is strong in this case.
It's V E R Y stupid. VERY.
Brit's Panelists: President said Gonzales had his support but also that Gonzales would go explain himself on The Hill.
If he bumbles, he's in trouble.
Mort: Not sure Gonzales has a high IQ. Doesn't know what his own Chief of Staff is doing? That's not evidence of....
Brit: You all think he'll be gone sooner or later. They think he's better off today than yesterday but (and here opinion is mixed among the panelists) he may not survive.
The "panel" still thinks Gonzales is gone --- we'll see about that.
I sure hope that an ethics complaint is filed against Schumer and SOON. He is beyond disgrace, a scum of great magnitude. All schumer wants is to grill Rove in public for political reasons and to make himself a king. He is still mad that Rove was not indicted in the non-crime Val-Gal-Pal spy case.
Shumer is over reaching.
Cornyn was great right after Schumer, btw. And perhaps he WILL file an ehtics complaint since Schumer is raising money on this issue as head of the DSSC; a point Cornyn made on the senate floor quite a few times tonight.
Gonzales won't be sleeping well until this is over. One way or the other.
Honest to Pete, why would good people want to even serve in an administration?
I'm off...
Hey Chuckie .. why are you on a witch hunt??
What shall we watch now? :0)
