Valerie Plame Gives Committee Secret Decoder Ring

(2007-03-16) — Valerie Plame, whose CIA career ended when columnist Robert Novak blew her cover in July 2003, today testifies before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee whose members will receive a special secret decoder ring so they can understand her without revealing sensitive intel in a public forum.
Ms. Plame (aka Valerie Wilson) lived such a secret life that when she and her husband, former ambassador Joe Wilson, appeared in a photo spread in Vanity Fair magazine, she was compelled by CIA covert spy protocol to wear dark sunglasses.
The former agent will speak in a top-secret cipher language. Committee members will break the encryption as she speaks using the secret decoder device.
“America’s security is my life’s passion,” said Ms. Plame, “Although I’ve been away from the Agency for several years, there may be still people in Europe who think I’m a simple business woman, and don’t realize that my glamorous, willowy, blond movie-star good looks disguised a master spy.”
Ms. Plame denied allegations that she’s testifying at the House hearing simply to provide footage for a future Super Bowl TV ad for the internet hosting company GoDaddy.com.
Meanwhile, former vice presidential aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby awaits sentencing on four counts of lying to investigators and obstructing a federal probe which found that no crime had been committed in the alleged outing of Ms. Plame.
Robert Novak remains at large.

The fact is, her identity was exposed. If she is lying about her status, she would be in Federal Prison right now. She already put facts on the record. How many of you on here actually ever held a security clearance and know the repercussion of sharing Secret and Top Secret material to the public, which in this case meant the exposing of a CIA officer.
So what exactly are you saying?
She was very careful to *not* say anything about her status, in Waxman's hearings. In fact, she very explicitly said, that she didn't now here status, that she is not a lawyer. I say B.S. to that, she knew damn well she wasn't covert, when all this was going down.
I'm saying that if people in Bush's administration were responsible for exposing her with either intention or unintentionally, then they should have their clearances removed and be removed from public service, period. There is no excuse for divulging secrets. What is going to happen to her contacts that she made while in her service? Gen Hayden even clarified that she is covert. Basically, you can go up to Langley, VA and tell the head of CIA that he knows nothing and that you know more than him. I want somebody to do that, oh please someone do it. That would make my day.
If she was covert, and it was intentional, then why didn't Fitzy prosecute someone for it?
If she was covert, and exposing her was unintentional, she and her hubby played a huge part in making it happen, the major part.
Yes, she might have been slightly covert while driving to CIA headquarters every day, Is that standard for operatives?
But we know that Richard Armitage, depty Secretary of State under Colin Powell, admitted he "outed her" to Patrick Fitzgerald BEFORE he even enpaneld his grand jury to investigate.
Fitzgerald needs to go on trial for wasting our time and money on a political witch hunt!
