Vice is Barney's specialty-

whether it be gambling, or something sexual in nature.

I thought the ban was stupid. Republicans treating us like children. There may be arguments against reckless gambling but people shouldn't punished for making occasional bets.

Instead of elminating the ban, we need to make it stronger and make better provisions for its strictest possible enforcement. We've got enough trouble with people embezzling to pay for their gambling addictions as it is. Legalize online gambling and all heck's gonna break loose.

Great news!

The sorry asses (Bill Frist and his GOP cohorts) who passed the anti-online gambling legislation in the first place had to do it in the dark of the night. Get the government OUT of out lives. This is just another example of goverment bureacracy run amok.

Get real, people.
There was no ban on internet poker playing. All the legislation did was to stop you from funding that online gambling through any financial institution that was based in the USA.

Was it incredibly stupid? You bet. (pun intended)

Was it even more incredibly stupid the way they did it. Sure was.

It wasn't a ban on internet gambling, it was a ban on certain types of financial dealings.

That's twice in three days that I agree with Democrat legislation---and both times it was on issues the REPUBLICANS should have been handled in the first place (the other being the FOIA bill).

Thanks, GOP leadership, for handing our opponents yet another opportunity to look good. Idiots.

The Democrats need to stop making me like them. They're really screwing with my worldview here. What happened to the good old days, when they were against freedom and the GOP was for it?

I recall you being anti-gambling, so this might5 be an interesting thread for you to participate in. Be forewarned, though, that a certain anti-libertarian poster has convinced me to have a "Jeff gets wasted and argues on FR" night, so apologies in advance if I'm more of a bastard than usual.
