This Rudy supporter wonders just who will be the FIRST poster to observe that Fred Thompson is just another ersatz "conservative" RINO fifth columnist. The winner gets the Torie prize.

Meh. I still think he's running for governor of Tennesee in 2010 and this is a gambit to get back into politics.

As was commented on in another thread, I'd love to see him take JC Watts as his running mate...when it gets to that point.

Some interesting facts about Fred Thompson:
*The reason Fred Thompson didn't want to stay in the Senate for long is because all the extra scrutiny kept him from doing his favorite hobby: Prowling the streets at night killing drug dealers.
* Every night before going to sleep, Osama bin Laden checks under his bed for Fred Thompson.
* Fred Thompson took over what was Al Gore's Senate seat, thereby dramatically reducing the Senate's carbon footprint. Fred Thompson then created carbon offset offsets by wastefully burning hippies.
* If you purchase a weather radio, it will wake you up with an alarm to warn you when Fred Thompson is pissed off.

Where do I sign up? I've always wanted to be a "political operative". I'm skilled in data networks, cooking, explosives, and firearms. I also appear to be the 'young hippie type', which would do well for hiding my skill set when it comes to appearance.

I have been following Thompson lately - to me he embodies all of the Conservative standards that I value, and I can't think of a single candidate who could have the MSM talking to themselves as easily as Thompson.
Plus, he is more well known, and is likeable and I believe he could attract of the mysterious "crossover" voters as well.
His statement, "I am concerned about the America that my kids will have to grow up in..." was a very telling statement.
Rudy and McCain are RINO's, no matter how you want to look at it. They are candidates you would have to "settle for", not be excited about. It's about time conservatives stopped running scared and "settling" for the candidate who is least "offensive" to the dems and the the MSN...that bunch NEEDS to be offended.

Fair is fair, lets give the same scrutiny to all.
This is primary season where the candidates prove themselves.

Otherwise he will remain only a figure of interest, and at most a vp contender.
