Former Iranian General and assistant defense minister Ali Rez Asghari left Iran using a new passport and pseudonym and managed to smuggle important intelligence documents, according to a report published Friday morning by London based newspaper Asharaq Alawsat.
According to the report, the missing Iranian general was carrying documents and maps of Iran's military and intelligence infrastructure as well as information regarding the relations between the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Hizbullah and the Islamic Jihad.

In addition, the general was reported to possess information regarding the Iranian nuclear program as well as information about Iran's strategic military plans.
Meanwhile, Turkish newspapers reported that three Iranians disappeared in Turkey, following allegations that they attempted to smuggle missiles into Iran.
Turkish newspapers reported Friday morning that the three Iranians, who owned Turkish companies operating, disappeared late last year following their attempts to smuggle spare used missile parts to Iran.
Reportedly, the attempt to export American-made rocket pieces to Iran, was foiled when Turkish customs informed the US authorities of the sale.
Turkish newspapers reported that the three Iranians disappeared shortly after the incident, last December.
This story just keeps getting better.
Pelosi will call on Bush to make sure the papers are sent back, as a sign of good will.

The general smuggled documents to where and to whom? It doesn't say.
The large question, hanging in the air, is, will the Administration use this information to clobber our enemies, both foreign and domestic, or will we be left wondering AGAIN, about our "conservative" friends in Washington?
Oh, thanks for the additional info.
Excellent!
Looks like Amanutjob is finding out that President Bush plays the game a little differently than the wussies Carter and Clinton.
I hear you.
I'm over this current crop of Republicans. So many wasted opportunities...
Who wants to buy? Basically only two customers -Israel and the US, unless the Saudis have entered the field. But since Asghari's portfolio mostly contains information about Hezbollah (one assumes) any Saudi involvement is less likely.
Perhaps the new Iraqi government as well?
That would be telling.
There's a bit more info in post 4.
Info on hezbollah in Lebanon for Israel, information on nukes for us.
FYI
And from this link, FWIW....
Missing Iranian Minister is Cooperating with Western Intelligence - Source
... has said that the ministry [Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs] was following the case at Irans request and that there was nothing unusual about it. He said, To us, he is simply a lost regular Iranian person, and added, After the [Ministry of Interior] comes up with a solution, we will relay the information to Iran as part of the diplomatic procedures.
for future reference
I guess that means they successfully "smuggled" the missiles into Iran.
I could have told them that you don't mess with Turkish customs. ;)
"I will live in Montana. And I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits, and she will cook them for me. And I will have a pickup truck... maybe even a "recreational vehicle." And drive from state to state. Do they let you do that?"
