"I personally admire Newt, and would love to see him as President... but, my wife heard on Oprah that he divorced his wife while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer.... She won't even listen to him for 5 seconds. She reacts to Newt the way I do to Hillary."

I'm with your wife! I'm not sure where I heard it (years ago) but it has stayed with me. Anyone who would inform his wife of his divorce plans while she's in the hospital being treated for cancer is a lowlife and will not EVER get my vote.

Do you have a source to show that this is true.

Newt served his wife with divorce papers as she lay in grave condition in the hospital. McCain divorced his first wife after she was crippled in a car accident. Giuliani had an affair while still married to his second wife and lived with two gay men while the divorce was pending; his relationship with his children is still seriously strained.

Romney has far more money and is indisputably better-looking than any of the other three. He could be on trophy wife number five by now. He has been married for almost 35 years to his high school sweetheart. They have five highly accomplished and obedient sons. She is suffering from MS and his faithfulness to her and their children has never wavered.

But evangelicals reject Romney out of hand because he is a Mormon.

Absolutely. This is why this urban legend is repeated by the liberal media everytime Newt surfaces. It hits home!

Never mind that the story, like many of the ethics charges thrown at Newt, is a half-truth at best. See post #112.

One would think, given the propensity for the MSM to, shall we say, "color" the news, that you would want to confirm this story before making such judgement. We know for a fact, based on Rathergate alone, that the MSM will lie to further a liberal agenda. Do you think this practice is something they just started in the last few years?

I don't know, call me old fashioned...

I heard the same thing. I enjoy listening to Newt, he has some good ideas, but I could never, ever vote for him. I would like to know if this rumor is true, but even without it, I think Newt has too much baggage to have a good shot at being president.
