While this article is nuts, I could not help but chuckle at the idea of Nancy Peolsi having to follow the orders given by GW. As Vice President, she would have to do what the President says.

She doesn't become Vice President. Bush chooses whomever he wants, and the new VP is subject to Congressional confirmation.

Not sure if you can recess appoint a new VP.

I didn't see any mention of Pelosi in the article. Where did you get that?

BW appoints, senate confirms, as new VP, a la Gerald Ford, among others. Now the dems could refuse to confirm W's choice, which could lead to some interesting issues.

Pelosi only becomes POTUS if both Bush and Cheney were incapacitated.

25th amendment says the president's VP nominee will be confirmed by both houses in a simple up/down majority vote.

As Cheney is not running for president, replacing him with someone who will run for president is an interesting idea.

I left them a polite (well, at least non-blue) rebuke. Doubt that the mods left it on their comments page.

Pelosi would only become POTUS IF Cheney were to step down and GWB suddenly die before he picked a VP. Unlikely.

I figured we had until Thursday or Friday before the avalanche of "Cheney must resign" sh!t poured forth from the media. Guess I was wrong about when it would start, but I know that the roar for Cheney's resignation will be deafening.

As far as the VP slot went, Bush would have to appoint someone who would need to be confirmed by the Senate, which means the post would go vacant. The Dims would kill any appointment he'd make.

I hope Cheney will not step down, not at this juncture, anyway.

Of course not. They can use TPA to quickly dissolve the clot, and he can stay on anticoagulant medicine. He's actually lucky that his clot wasn't serious. Many are killed by blood clots. Vice President Cheney should be just fine.

Well, why not. It would nicely round off the week if Cheney resigned. Ann Coulter shot herself in the foot, and most Freepers seem to think that it demonstrated her great marksmanship. Scooter Libby was convicted on four counts out of five, which will feed the very undead dinosaur media for months, and Bush "respects the verdict." Glad to hear it, Mr. President. CPAC proved that there is still no Republican presidential candidate for '08 that unites the base, and given the accelerated primary schedule, there is precious little time for one to appear. The Republican leadership seems utterly clueless about why they lost the last election, and seem ready to settle in for another long comfortable run in the minority.

Yes, sure, let Cheney resign, bring it on.

I didn't realize that Cheney had FOUR heart attacks :(

I am a little curious as to how you can acertain whether you have a blood clot, or does the doctor find it by luck. Just personal curiosity. I've been told that clots can be as small as a dime.

LOL, the words chuckle and Pelousey don't belong in the same sentence.

Meanwhile the Democraps have a brain damaged "Senator" who is not serving his public but the Dems refuse to surrender their narrow margin.

My brother recently had hip replacement surgery. He developed a lower leg blood clot. He is being treated with a blood thinner drug. The doctor told him he will be fine. I do not see why Cheney would have to quit.
