I'd agree to a point. While there are many Republican's on this site, I'd say the heavy slant is toward Conservatives. As we all know republicans (the politicians) will often sway with the wind, a true conservative will not.

I've been watching for the first FReeper threatening to move to France if Rudy is the nominee, haven't seen it yet.

I'm going to Cancun! Or maybe Nassau. If you are going to flee the country those are the places to go. Who the f*** wants to go to France?

To me, it's pitiful that we're even forced to make the distinction, but forced we are. It's quite clear to me that Free Republic is a Conservative website. The Republican Party has long been viewed as the best vehicle to forward Conservatism, but that view is being sorely tested. Hopefully, we can come out of the primaries with a Republican nominee that we can all get behind in earnest, on the WOT, on taxes, on economic issues and on social issues. If we don't, the door is left wide open for further splintering of the longstanding Reagan coalition, that has elected so many Conservative Republicans. The result will be a Democrat in the White House.

Is FreeRepublic a Conservative Website Or Is It A Republican Website?

Ummmm....if it were "Republican", we wouldn't be allowed to call BS on RINO's, now, would we?

Is FreeRepublic a Conservative Website Or Is It A Republican Website?

yeah, hard to say really.....

21,000 posts on the death of anna nicole, regular feeding frenzies on "zot" threads, constant personal attacks and emotional outbursts whenever any poster so much as considers a position that questions the "win at all costs because the enemy (democrats) are the devil" brain washing.........etc.

Are these the actions of conservatives and/or republicans?

if so, what does this say about those who self identify as one or both, and what does this say about both........

like it or not, we have a two party system in this country. there may be other smaller parties, but only one of the two can achieve political victory and influence public policy.

decide which one you want to be a part of folks. then work through that one, to achieve your objectives. "victory through defeat" is not possible.

Was Goldwater a conservative? Was he pro-life? For gay rights? Just asking.

It's definitely a conservative website not affiliated with any party.

Reality dictates that the only national politicians will come from the GOP, so there is a slant that way out of mere pragmatism if nothing else.

If the current Rudy Wars end up driving most mainstream Republicans from this site, it will still be a conservative site, but it will be kind of a Michael Savage cheering section and not much more.

I am first an American.

Most of my politics is conservative, but I am not blind to any political discussion or point of view.

I support the military and I support the President of the United States, although I sometimes disagrre with him, mainly on his blind charge to allow the Mexican invasion.

My opinions are my own and I enjoy seeing other people's opinions in Free Republic.

Conservative. Definitely. Although there are a lot of trolls who are trying to divide the cause.

>>>As we all know republicans (the politicians) will often sway with the wind, a true conservative will not.

Example from me....If any of the RINOs had the primary nomination....and the Democratic candidate was Congressman John Salazar, I would vote Salazar.

Right now, it's a conservative website with 25% of the posters pushing a Blue zone RINO social liberal for POTUS. It blows in the wind, no telling what the flavor will be a month from now.

I'm not sure we're as good as that as we were 7 years ago.
