On Ann Coulter - Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic. (conservatives respond)

Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.

I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.

(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s audio of her calling John Edwards a “faggot” at CPAC today.)

---

Michelle Malkin -

***4:15pm update***

Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."

A smattering of laughter.

Not from this corner.

Crickets chirping.

---

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -

Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.

Here’s what she said.

“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”

I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.

Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.

"I stand by my opinion and when other conservative pundits come out and say Ann was correct in her statements, then please be sure to ping me......thanks"

Well, if that is so important to you, you are stupid.

Who cares what other pundits say? Can't you think for yourself?

Don't answer. I don't care what you think.

I've had enough of stupid people for one day. (Actually, for several weeks.)

It was a joke. Stupid people didn't get it. Either they didn't know the news story that Coulter was referencing, or they are so thick they didn't connect that to what she said.

True.

"..thanks...I'm sure the Ann lovers will now label Hugh Hewitt a weak minded RINO who is too sensitive....lol... Michelle Malkin as well"

You think they are deep thinkers?

LOL!

(Enough.)

...ok Sam.....we are all stupid....but on the other hand, between YOU or Hugh Hewitt I think I'll stand with Hugh on this....when you get editorial rights to townhall.com, then I'll try and respect your side of the argument....

Or a successful blog, syndicated column, Fox News contributor status and video blog (Hot Air) like Michelle Malkin.

And of course Hey4qdems would call her a hater.

No I wouldn't, I'm a big fan.

Ayn Rand did not use a disparaging adjective at a nationally covered GOP event.

I challange you to find a single GOP candidate that refuses to distance themselves from her remark.

I predict that within a week at least one GOP candidate will be forced to answer a question about Ann's joke and I don't think you are going to like the answer. Which gets back to my point that any time spent by a candidate addressing her stupid joke is time that could have been spent talking about other things that actually are important.

""I cannot imagine Coulter being invited to any panel or television appearance on which I would want to appear. Colleges and universities must also stop inviting her to appear as a representative of the conservative movement in America. She is not. You want smart, accomplished and funny conservative women?"

Or how about asking Mr. Hewitt to speak. He knows all. Here he is holding forth on November 4th about the upcoming elections:

"So what’s it all mean? In the tied races, the Republican will win. In the close races, the Republican will win. It adds up to Republicans running the table in the Senate. That’s right – running the table. Montana, Virginia, Missouri, Tennessee, New Jersey, Rhode Island (whoopee), and Maryland will all send or re-send Republicans to the Senate. But wait, there’s more! Michigan will send Sheriff Michael Bouchard to the Senate. And in Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum is in striking distance.

In the House, the same holds true. Republican Joe Negron will take Foley’s seat. New Mexico’s Heather Wilson will return to Congress. So, too, will Connecticut’s Chris Shays. We’ll lose a handful of seats for the individual failures of certain Congressmen (hello, Curt Weldon), but we will retain control of the House.

LOL!

The man is a bonehead. No wonder he can't figure out a joke.

Thank you. Yes, I DO recall that song now - LOL. But down to business here, does one of the girls in the song represent Coulter?

Ah, so people can say anything they want as hateful as can be as long as it is not at a nationally covered (C-SPAN?) GOP event.

You are a joke.

Too bad you can't recognize one.

If a couple of people posting in this thread showed up at Duncan Hunter's campaign office to volunteer and used their comments in this thread as an example of what they believe the result will be getting kicked to the curb.

....but as Sam says, we are all a joke, and stupid and well, I guess he has the liberal tactics down pat....so I'm waiting for Duncan Hunter to come out and say Edwards is a "faggot"....if he doesn't, then by "their" remarks on this thread, he is a coward....I don't believe it but just trying to use their logic....and I use that term loosely

"we are all stupid...."

Again, we agree.

I'm making a very simple point. If you can't see that Coulter was joking about a recent news story -- you are stupid.

The trouble you and so many others are having comprehending this very simple point, proves my point.

If the vast array of luminaries bloggers didn't get the joke, they too are stupid.

Or they could be jealous and anxious to knock off someone who actually does some original thinking now and then.

"If a couple of people posting in this thread showed up at Duncan Hunter's campaign office to volunteer and used their comments in this thread as an example of what they believe the result will be getting kicked to the curb."

Hey, it couldn't be that you and some of the others are outraged that Ann Coulter's joke is getting more attention than your candidate, that is causing all of your faux outrage?

Coulter likes Hunter. She hasn't "endorsed" anyone.

But if that is your motivation (and those do seem to be the only other threads you have posted on lately), then this is truely pathetic.

So we should be happy with the status quo: John Edwards is still the "Silky Pony." That image created by Laura Ingram still works for me.

With my respect for free speech and with exception to the confines of my home, yes they can.

You are a joke.

You are the punchline.

I know you are close to Michele Malkin. (That you send her tips, etc., using your real name.)

Which also makes your motivation a little more suspect.

How many other MM acolytes are here?

And what is the point of this jihad?

My guess is that he would laugh himself silly.
