Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.
I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, whos shocked? She obviously cant behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. Its not a lack of intelligence. Its an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if its unflattering.
(For those of you who dont know what Im talking about, heres audio of her calling John Edwards a faggot at CPAC today.)

Michelle Malkin -
***4:15pm update***
Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."
A smattering of laughter.
Not from this corner.
Crickets chirping.

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -
Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gores green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.
Heres what she said.
Id say something about John Edwards, but if you say faggot you have to go to rehab.
Im no fan of John Edwards, but thats just a stupid joke. Its over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.
Last year it was raghead. This year its calling John Edwards a faggot. Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.
Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.
Didn't Ms. Rand recently return to her Catholic roots? (or something to that effect)
Ann Coulter was hotter than Barbera Olsen about 2 years before 9/11
I would have never guessed that Rand held such views about homosexuality. You're right. She'd be on her way to gay-hater rehab in today's climate.
"...if Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson team-up to run, that'll be the 'Hunter-Thompson' ticket..."
That works for me. So does Thompson/Hunter. Either way would be a nuke to the left.
I agree.
Unfortunately, Reagan was one of a kind. Short of incisive instant wit, ridicule runs a close second as a useful political tool.
Churchill used ridicule a lot, as well as wit. No political or "unconservative" slouch, he....
Because the only thing that the Repubs far too often elegant responses to the Dem smear machine have won them, is hollow praise from the MSM and some Dems for having stayed "above the fray".
And that, both the MSM and Dems can shove where the sun don't shine!
So good for Ann! Cus' it's about damn time somebody started going for their throat!
"On Ann Coulter" - Now you're talking.
Yeah? So? There is a contingent here treating it like farting loudly at St. Patrick's Cathedral for pete's sake...
OH well, at least it got people's attention.
Put her on the podium again and announce it in advance (in the MSM)--right after a key speaker who has a steadfast and serious message to deliver, maybe people will tune in early and be converted...
Thanks for going to the trouble of finding and posting that! Everyone should see it!
...exactly BillyBoy....all the attention is on Ann now, just how she wants it....don't know why so many here aspire to think liberal mudslinging is the way to go....I'm waiting to see how many conservative pundits will go along with her on this one....
Comparing Ann Coulter to Michael Moore speaks for itself.
I'm afraid I'm way out of that league... and if you believe I think you both superior, enjoy it.
"don't know why so many here aspire to think liberal mudslinging is the way to go"
Do you really think Coulter was calling Edwards a "faggot"?
Are you really that stupid.
This was a joke about the news about an actor being forced to go to rehab for saying that word.
Some of you people are seriously stupid if you can't figure that out.
Or you have another agenda.
In fact, "faggot" is an inelegant and crude term. I believe most conseravtives would agree that it is poor form to use it gratuitously and personally, as in saying that someone--Edwards--is a faggot.
But Ann didn't call Edwards a "faggot." She implied that his manner is prissy and effeminate, which is exactly the point that other commentators have made when they have called him a "silky pony" or a "Breck girl." And she suggested that certain terms come to mind, such as "faggot", but that it would not only be inappropriate to use the word in a gratuitous and personal sense to characterize Edwards, it would be heinous crime in PC terms to so employ it.
She was right on both counts. Without ever calling Edwards a "faggot" she made a trenchant and precise comment about the the decaying environment of political correctness in which we all been forced to live by liberals.
Good for Ann. Never give a inch.
...exactly......if Hewiit, Prager et al come out and defend her statements, then I'll be the first to say I stand corrected....Michelle Malkin already dismissed her and she was then called a "supposed conservative"....imagine that, some Ann worshiper thinks Malkin is a RINO....lol
You mean like the Dem's '06 electioneering slogan, "Time for a change" without ever stating the nature of that change?
The dumbed-down electorate that comprises 2007 America is ripe for cute, quick sound bites that require no thought. This is what the educational establishment has foisted off on us the past few decades - sheep and automatons that are seemingly incapable of thought processes involving more than parsing a few words, let alone analyzing issues with anything resembling depth.
No, Ann's ahead of you on this curve.
Think I'm wrong?
Then where's the analyses of Duncan Hunter's words? We all know (or at least, think we know) what Ann said, but who knows what Duncan said?
People grasp this in an instant, and rightly or wrongly come to a conclusion about what was said. Impressions are formed, and then either reinforced or altered in some way when someone like Howard Dean focuses more light on it.
I'm not saying all of America is so developmentally challenged on things like this, but I am saying the electoral landscape has changed dramatically since your Ma and Pa's day.
If we'd just shut up about it, and let the left shoot themselves on the foot over this (and other things like this!) we'd be a lot better off.
I mean, how can anyone in one breath denigrate Political Correctness, and then in the next engage in behavior like this, excoriating words and personal views spoken that have a little more than elemental truth to them, and act like those on the other side if the aisle in a rush to distance ourselves from the person who spoke them?
SHE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING WRONG!!! The problem here seems to be with so-called Conservatives altogether too eager to impress the Liberal world out there.
I don't play those games, and neither should anyone else here. Politics is, after all, a blood sport, and the cardinal rule of this sport, if you want to survive it, is, better his blood than mine.
CA....
....I wouldn't speculate on agendas....and I must be stupid, I thought Bush was a conservative when I voted for him....I'm not going to try and convince you that her tactics are ill advised....but I'll tell you what, if many of the conservative pundits come out on Monday and say Ann's remarks were productive and well timed, then I'll admit I was wrong and go home.....until then, I reread the statement many times.....and no matter what Ann thought, it came out as a slur......again, I am NOT offended, I question her timing and where she said it.....taking attention away from the candidates.....there are better venues for that
