On Ann Coulter - Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic. (conservatives respond)

Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.

I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.

(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s audio of her calling John Edwards a “faggot” at CPAC today.)

---

Michelle Malkin -

***4:15pm update***

Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."

A smattering of laughter.

Not from this corner.

Crickets chirping.

---

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -

Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.

Here’s what she said.

“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”

I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.

Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.

So are people sending money to Edwards? Its great if they are.

As totally inept as I believe Edwards is . I would rather se him as Democrat candidate than Obama or Hillary.Although I really dont believe he can beat either of them, I hope people send him money Among the three he is probably best for the country. At least he isnt Muslim or an outright Socialist.

Goldwater according to his family....

"Barry Goldwater would be considered a moderate today. He was firmly pro-choice, a supporter of gay rights and, in his later years, said that he thought it was okay for gays to serve in the military.

Fundamentally, it’s clear that Barry would not have been comfortable with the increasing influence of the Christian right over the GOP."

That's what you want. That is not Reagan's message.

They know they can't beat her in the world of ideas so they have to destroy her. Unfortunately for them she has more Testosterone than the entire DC establishment. Buy that girl a steak!

Nobody puts words together quite like you, BlackElk!

I wonder if Michelle Malkin is upset that Ann Coulter seems to be winning the "Most Emaciated Conservative Commentator" stakes at the moment ...

I certainly enjoy reading Ann's columns and books. I learn a lot from them also. We all have rights, including CPAC. If they choose not to invite her next year, that is their right.

I do wonder about efforts to placate, or appease, others. I remember when Newt Gingrich had a show on T.V. If he made X references to Lincoln (all positive), he would make X+1 references to FDR (all positive). Liberal critics railed against his "partisan" show. Often it seems that being reasonable, or even telling the truth, is like throwing red meat to Liberal Democrats and, more recently, to Muslims.

Perhaps Ann's comment was over the top. But then again, where is the offense. Is the Democratic party saying there is something wrong with being gay? A little clarity please. Also, will the Democratic party refrain from directing hateful accusations at Bush, Cheney and other Republicans? They recently advanced "no hypocrisy" as their First Commandment (Foley case). Have they forgotten so soon?

Ann took it to the next level. Laura Ingram's "Silky Pony" was starting to get old. It was her shot across the bow of the Democrats. It also was a call to her fellow conservatives that now is the time to be courageous, get out of our fox holes and start the fight.

Ann's tact may have seemed out of control, however, it was strategery with huge effects. Watch the DemonRATs go into orbit over this one incident. The more they react, the worse for them. See it as the bull has been gored and the red cape has been waved.

She lost me when she recently announced she was leaning towards supporting Romney.

This is just more proof that her mouth is a loaded weapon and the safety is broken.

Oh come on, it's outrageously funny. Unlike Joy Behar calling the administration murderers and liars, and then objecting to being called a liberal as namecalling!

This was intended to be funny - and it was funny on many levels.

Dear BlackElk,

"Ann's agenda is the defense of Western Civilization. Our agenda ought to be the same and defending Ann's defense."

Amen.

I'd add that electing folks who would guard the outer walls while letting the enemy continue to destroy us from within isn't a defense, either.
