This may or may not come as a surprise, but there's more profanity on "The Internets" than in traditional media. Lots more. The enterprising blogger Patrick Ishmael (newsbuckit.blogspot.com) did an, excuse the pun, quick and dirty analysis of the ideological divide in online trash-talking. Make that, ideological chasm. He did a Google search for comedian George Carlin's famous "seven dirty words" on popular lefty and righty blogs. Lefty Daily Kos took top honors with 146,000 pages containing one or more of the words in question. Its lefty competitor, The Huffington Post, was close behind with 109,000. No right-wing site reached even 10,000 on the Carlin scale.
A commenter at the site refined the methodology to account for overall site size, finding a "'7 words' to pages" ratio of "1 profanity every 2 pages" for Daily Kos and "1 every 121 pages" for the Free Republic ("the foulest" of the righty sites). The study "isn't scien tific," Ishmael warns, "but hey, it's pretty @*%#$&! close."

What? No Democratic Underground? No IndyMedia? No FreeRepublic? No Townhall? No FrontPageMag?And thus, the numbers:
If you deleted all of my posts, this number would probably change to 1 profanity every 14,000+ pages. LOL.
I first heard that word in "music" played in a Florida public college cafeteria. I'd just gotten out of the Navyin 1972!
So long as that 80% Giuliani speaks of truly includes a commitment to putting Scalia-type judges on the federal courts (especially the Sup Court), then he may be okay. I'd like to hear him reconcile his support for Roe with this alleged desire to support anti-Roe judges like Scalia.
I'm sure he'd be terrible on immigration, but then again, so is President Bush, Senator McCain, and all prominent Democrats.

>>>There's no reason for Freepers/Conservatives to descend into such a gutter as the Lib/Commies!
My Grandma always said that profanity was the feeble minded people's way of expressing themselves with force. Wise lady, my Grandma. Miss her dearly...
Would you say we have a... PLETHORA of words to choose from?
nope - it must have been pulled.
"Plethora? Plethopra? We don' need no steenkin' plethora!"
hmmmmm....wonder why my employer filters FreeRepublic, but allows DU?
(edited for posting)
Can't find the article at the link you posted.
My personal opinion on the "quick and dirty" is that I think DU got sampled in an off period.
I can't remember the last time I went there, or why, but the indiscriminate use of profanity mooted any effort at comprehending whatever the topic and "analysis" was.
If you look up the seven words(which I won't repeat here), it's certainly not words we use around here regularly, with the exception of maybe sh*t when we say BS. My theory is that PJ's daily DU funnies that quote some of the bad words on DU are skewing our results.
It's obvious from a quick reading that the leftist sites have little of substance to say.
He just appointed his old friend and Reagan Justice Dept ally Ted Olsen as chair of his legal and judicial advisory group. That's about as good a start as he can get.
Never mind, I found it but it's not an excerpt, you posted the whole thing.
Plethora? PLETHORA???? We don't need no stinking PLETHORA!!!
