Great catch Star, you really come up with some great stuff!I think Thompson would be great--he's a great American from what I have seen, of course now that he is interested look for the DBM to create an entirely new Fred Thompson from the one we know.

HIYA Sleuth, wow have I missed this place for the past week! To be honest with you, Rudy,Hunter or Thompson would all be O,K. with me. I just want to win, if we can get a conservative in the contest as well even better.
I heard Hunter deliver a speech last week at the C-pac convention and it was a brilliant speech except that he forgot to get excited!!!
It takes charisma, excitement, and enthusiasm to win, he needs to develop it, and fast.

Truth is if we vote on any candidate based on a single issue we are kidding our selves. It's an entire package we are voting on.

LMAO at this quote from imbd by Fred...
"After two years in Washington, I often long for the realism and sincerity of Hollywood." From a speech given by Thompson before the Commonwealth Club of California.
The man has a keen sense of ironic humor. ;o)
To: rodguy911
Yes...he does.
However, I think we can give Hunter a sort of a pass in this instance.
My goodness, the camera panned the audience and there was only a handful of people there...after all, it was like 8:00 in the morning.
It is a LOT easier to be excited, and get enthusiastic when there is a crowd to play off of.

Cut the crap with the pro-choice stuff, OK?
I don't care how he ran, his voting record in Congress proves he's as pro-life as anyone here could ever want.

True enough, I'm not trashing Thompson at all. I'm just explaining the record.
If Thompson enters the race, there is a strong possibility he'd get my vote. I'm just explaining what he said.
To: RockinRight
That's a silly definition. If the three votes people keep mentioning here are the test, then half the D's in Congress are pro-life.
To: STARWISE
I just now caught this. Is this for real??
I've always thought that he "just looks so presidential". And reading his record--
Color me interested....

Gotcha, I often wonder if single issue voters did not cost us dearly in 06.

The thing is....he is not pro life.
It depends what your definition of pro life is...Thompson said he was pro choice in 1994, so I guess that makes him pro life.

I'm surprised it took 34 posts for someone to notice the obvious humor of a Hunter-Thompson ticket.
I guess there are too many out of the cultural loop. (sigh)
To: zbigreddogz
He's a lot better than anyone else running who has a chance. I say he should go for it.
