LONDON - Prince Charles suggested Tuesday on a visit to the United Arab Emirates that banning McDonalds fast food was crucial for improving peoples diets, a British news agency reported.
Charless comments came while visiting the Imperial College London Diabetes Center in Abu Dhabi for the launch of a public health campaign, Britains Press Association news agency reported.
Have you got anywhere with McDonalds? Have you tried getting it banned? Thats the key, Charles asked one of the centers nutritionists, according to the news agency.
A McDonalds spokeswoman called the remark disappointing. This appears to be an off-the-cuff remark, in our opinion, she said on condition of anonymity, in line with company practice in Britain.
The Oak Brook, Ill.-based McDonalds Corp. took steps last year to display nutrition facts on its packaging and vary its menu to counter charges that its food is unhealthy and contributes to obesity. There are 25 McDonalds franchises in the United Arab Emirates.
Charles, who is first in line to the British throne, is an active advocate of organic food. He set up a farm on his Highgrove Estate that does not use artificial pesticides or fertilizers in 1986.
The prince was in the United Arab Emirates with his wife, Camilla, as part of a tour of Gulf countries.
The United Arab Emirates has the worlds second highest number of diabetes cases per capita. One out of five people aged 20 to 79 already suffers from the illness, while 40 percent of the population is at risk for developing it.
Ronald ? Ahh come on he's not that bad.

Prince Charles had better stick to talking to trees(as he claims to). He seems pretty good at it.
BTW, is he cheating on his new wife yet?

McDonald's hot apple pie

Apple Pie: good.
Hot apple pie: good.
McDonalds Hot Apple Pie: the foodstuff of Satan.
I have no idea how they manage to superheat the filling in those pies to approximately the surface temperature of the Sun. I can state with near-certainty that at least 90% of the world's spontaneous combustion cases were caused by eating said pie.
Usual chain of events:
1: "Oh, i think i'll have a Hot Apple Pie"
2: "This looks gorgeous"
3: Head bursts into flames.
Well now that's a coincidence...Just recently I advocated banning pompous, philandering, British royal ninnies.
Oh, Chuck, have a cheeseburger and live a little.
No, his horse bucked him off.
Shush, Your Highness. You're making a proper Charlie of yourself.
Ever seen the crap they serve in the average U.K. eateries???
Ever seen a plate of Bangers and Mash? Gag
What Prince Charles is thinking: "Everyone should eat top sirloin instead. I do why doesn't everyone else? Why don't their chefs make them healthier food?"
I'm guessing you wait a while for the Hot Lava Pie to cool off, as no human can possibly eat one fresh from the store.
I think the "serving temperature" of the things is something like nine billion degrees Fahrenheit.
He's going to go the Al Gore route to get popularity back. He's going to attach himself to many liberal causes.
What happened to the list of Truly Important Problems? I know I had it here somewhere...
Actually, their apple pies were pretty good, back when they still fried 'em. Nowadays, I go to Krystal, instead.
However, as log as folks are not actually starving, why is it gub'mint's job to improve their diet?
Things like this make me feel really bad for Queen Elizabeth. Now, there's a woman who knows how to keep her mouth shut -- too bad it's apparently not hereditary!
Anything ever come of that rumor a while back that Charles had secretly converted to Islam?
Mince meat pie, deep fried fish, french fries, doner kebabs, black pudding. Has Charles seen what else the British eat. McDonalds is no worse than any of the above foods.
