Hi there pretty lady!

You know I thought it was a wonderful year for movies.. I guess it just depends on what genre you like & who you see them with..

My husband and I just finished watching The Departed, our first DVD this year. We got it because nothing on TV to watch tonite and we think Leonardo DiCaprio has turned out to be, in our opinion, the best younger actor Hollywood has come up with in a very long time. We liked the picture, gory as it was and with about every other word starting with f. DiCaprio was so great in The Aviator, the Howard Hughes bio, that we will take a chance on anything he is in. I haven't heard him mouth off anything anti American or hate Bush and I don't know what sex he claims to be so I hope we can continue to enjoy his acting even if our pleasure is based on ignorance of either factoid.

She hasn't impressed me one bit. I got a sour taste when in the beginning she was talking about Al Gore and I can't remember the correct phrasing but she rounded it all out by saying "Well, he did get elected." I am a strange person and I hold grudges, I guess. LOLOL......

Watched Babel earlier tonight. I wasn't that impressed. 21 Grams is a much better film by Inarritu. It was interesting, but I didn't really feel there was any payoff.

Wow.. ANOTHER Award for Sunshine! Could a Best Picture award be possible???

Haven't been keeping up with the thread but as a conniseur of movies, what are your choices? (You probably said but...)

As mostly non-movie watchers, we're not impressed with quality choices. No impressive epic sagas.

I think I'll listen to Drudge on the radio. There is nothing interesting or entertaining about the Academy Awards.

Nighty-night!

I could not sit through Babel, nor Borat...maybe Jack is bald for an upcoming film? He does not look sick...

I thought Leo was very good in Blood Diamond as well.

As far as cursing a lot, I think it would be hard to buy some movies like Departed and Pulp Fiction without a lot of cursing. And then some movies use it for comedic effect --South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut. And of course you have Samuel L. Jackson who sounds like he was born to use the F word.

Does anyone know why "Borat" wasn't nominated for anything? It was one of the biggest grossing films of the year.

It's out on DVD. The acting was superb. It reminded me of "Crash" or an Altman film where several stories are woven into the whole.

Grosses aren't all that matters. It was nominated for Adapted Screenplay. All you could really nominated for was Cohen for acting.

Not that much drama left, I'd say.... except Best Picture... The Queen lady will win Best Actress.. Whitake will win Best Actor... Marty will win Best Director...... Best Picture is reall up in the air... I think The Departed will win, but... I'd be tickled if Little Miss Sunshine did win. If there's any year where a film like this could win, it's this year... when, the votes are split. And, as you say, no EPIC movies that demand votes....

Just a FABULOUS JC Penny commercial...must have had echoes of 25 movies in it...really well done.

However, the pale imitiations make you realize how great the originals were.

both of Clints movies were good., cars, happy feet, pan's, , actually I liked most of them.

When I go to a movie I try to find what is there to enjoy.. more or less how I approach people. If I go with preconceived expectations, I am normally disappointed. in movies & in people.

Many movies that people put down I likes.. Apacalto; babel,

I liked Casino Royale..

Actually the one I liked the least (but not that I disliked it) was was Devil wore P.

Music from Dreamgirls now..
